Ok I'm been waiting from June 2007.
Everybody talks about it, but it can't be bought nowhere.
F3Sv can be hardly find on a couple of spots, but no F3Sa. No word about this model.
What is the deal with Asus F3Sa????
    Does anybody have the answer?
    Tnx

It came onto the site a couple of days back, I think. And newegg probably will be the only way to get an F8Sa in the US, it was the only way to get an A8Jp (ATI version of the A8Js - predecessor to the F8Sa) in the spring as well.

So I already asked and they (newegg) are not customizeing it.
I would like to get 200GB SEAGATE 7200rpm HDD in it
and 2 extra GB of RAM (3 altogether)
    Any suggestions on that?
    :)

The F8SA is most likely an exclusive SKU to superstores like best buy and newegg judging by the -x2 unique product code. You can always purchase the upgrades desired seperately. If not, there's always the F8SV-A1 / B1. Thanks!

Yes, I think I will take the upgrade separately, then.
Any tips? What type of 2GB RAM memory should I look for?
And will the Seagate 200GB 7200rpm 2,5" be compactible to Asus F8Sa?
I guess I could get all that from your shop, Excaliburpc.

If your not really stuck on the ATI card in the F8SA take a look at the great reviews and tests on the F8SV(nvidia) that a few of the vendors here have done. Plus you can have the lappy configured by any of them the way you want.

Most of the new Asus notebooks don't get great battery life. If the only difference is the video card, I would say at most +15 minutes, if you are lucky.

Laptop is to be used to do video, and on very comprehensive level.
So before anyone says that I don't need that powerful graphic, check this post:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=180814

As y'all probably know ATI is better with the video, and I've heard that there were some issues with 8600 card from people that do what I do.

So, yes I am really stuck on ATI, tnx anyway :D

Honestly, the 8600GT is just as good as the HD2600, if not better.

Both notebooks should hit within 10 minutes of each other in battery life, so right around 2 hours for both.

The HD 2600 has VC-1 hardware encoding whereas all the NVIDIA 8 series chip only have software encoding and thus made a big difference in video quality play back. I was hoping for a better screen like 1440X900. Hoping there will be a newer F8SA series that has high rez. Surprised that most of their older generation laptop, 14 incher has 1440X900.

    what is VC-1? (sorry i m a noob)

I been hunting for a laptop for a while now, and this forum helped alot. But everytime i make up my mind on a lappy something new comes up, didnt even hear about F8SA until 2 days ago.

So now i am deciding between the F3SA F8SA and F8SV, and HP8510p. the first 2 being alsmot 150 bucks cheper.

Which makes me wonder the true difference between the 2 F8S series.

I read both review by the vendors on F8SV but havent seen anything on
    F8SA.

I head that the ATI has way better OC capabilities, while the F8SV( with 8600GT) got 4500 OC'd in 3d Marks!

Now my choices just got harder, so for the extra 150 i pay for the F8SV i only get a shinier case and (MAYBE) a better video?
If thats the case then is it correct to thing that F3SA (with its HD 2600 512mg) will beat F8SV with its 8600GT at 252mg? (both are ddr 2)

Last thing is, while i know how the bench marks and OC works, i have no personal experience. So I am wondering would i need extra componets( heat sinks, thermos, etc to OC these 3 laptos?) Would it wear out the laptop faster even when its done correctly?

Any comments would be greatly appraciated.
    :)
    Thanks

PS: please let me know if theres a better place to post these questions

F8SV just hit the shelves at a computer store in Vancouver (ICI computers), and its going for 1368CAD.

Someone should really do a side by side comparison of the F8SV and F8SA laptops.

I think he was talking more on a level of OC for both different videos side by side for these 2 laptops.

F8SV got some impressive OC'd 3dmarks scored while at descent temperature, but from I have been hearding, the HD2600 has way more potential to be OC'd, and its about 100-150 cheaper. So kinda makes wonder what the true pontencial, since no review has been posted on the F8SA. (or has it?)

Also, where did you see the HDdvd option for F8SA?

Looks like the NCIX site pulled it, probably because they dont have it yet.

I'm not searching from any one site, really there are quite a lot of these independent retailers all over Greater Vancouver. If you ever go to the Bridgeport Road area there are TONS of them. But here are some of the stores that I like, mostly because they have good prices:

    A-Power.com
    NCIX.com
    NTCW.com
    ATIC.ca
    ICI Computers.net
    Computraksystem.com
    Anitec.ca

A search on Conrad.de and Saturn.de shows nothing. PCWorld.co.uk also shows nothing.

Computers and electronics are generally pretty expensive in Europe, and I think the warranties here are different as well. IMO its better to stick to North American Products.

mmhm. You can just undervolt it to get more battery time out of it.

Nothing new with in-store availability for now.

Shouldnt be too hard. I havent actually tried it, but I think theres software do it with. I think its safe to say that undervolting and overclocking do NOT go together.

Anyways, heard anything new about the F8SA?
