I posted a separate post regarding the gist of my problem with my Asus F8Sn which can be found here

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=4961228#post4961228

However, another problem I have is that the Windows Error Recovery requires me to insert the Windows Installation disc.

So far, I'm checking the discs Asus provided, and there are only 3:
    1. Nero OEM Suite
    2. Asus F8Sn Drivers and Utilities Ver. 1.0 and
    3. Recovery DVD AsusTek Computer Inc.

I tried insterting the Recovery DVD but nothing happened. Do any of these disks substitute for a Windows Installation disc?

Why didn't Asus provide one for my notebook? I'm also using a Dell XPS M1530 and I'm just wondering why Dell provided my one (for use with Dell only), while Asus didn't.

Would I need to contact an Asus Service Center for this?

Is this something I can fix by calling Asus, or should I send it for repair.

I appreciate any comments and solutions,
    Thanks...

    Thanks Ken for the reply.

Some questions though. The Windows Repair disk in the link you gave me is OEM-specific right? So I can pretty much use it for any notebook brand?

And also, if I opt to download the torrent, the site gives me a specific program to copy the .iso image onto a CD? Can I just do it without the IMGBurn program, and just use Windows or Roxio Creator (installed on my Dell XPS 1530) to do it?

    Thanks again...

Yes you can use the repair disk for any brand, people upload the repair disk ISO is because most manufacturers don't provide the Vista installation disk, instead, they only provide recovery disk which does not have repair features like full version Vista disk.

Any ISO program will work, I am not sure the Roxio Creater on your Dell burns ISO to the disk, but you can try, if not, there are many free ISO programs out there.

    Note:
When doing startup repair using the Vista repair disk, you might need to repeat the repair procedure multiple times in order to fix the problem, some of my customers did 4 repairs to fixed the their problem.

    Ok.

I'm really quite new to Windows Backup and Repair stuff. I know for one thing (and I've tried it many times to fix problems), that System Restore doesn't delete any data.

However, my last 2 questions are as follows:
    1. If I opt to run the automated system repair, does it delete any data on my HD?

    2. Also, does the Complete PC Backup create a backup copy of all my data on the HD? Or does it transfer eveything and delete the original files?

Thanks again for all the help Ken...

Windows System restore doesn't delete data but Asus restore does, depends on which disk you are using.

1: If problem won't work, you need to use the Windows repair disk you download, boot from the disk and choose "Sartup Repair".

2: Yes, however, only the Vista Business and Ultimate version has compelete backup feature, it creates a image backup of your HD into external storage.
