To the other B1 owners out there, just wondering what your average CPU usage is at and what happens when you open programs?

When my notebook just finished starting up, the CPU usage was at 200% (it's a duo core) which is very strange for the type of processor I have. And when I click open simple programs like Firefox, it can go up to 40% altogether, but it would go back to 11% in a little bit.

So I'm just wondering if any others were experiencing this or if my notebook is messed up.

What you're seeing is completely normal.

CPU usage will run high at startup because of the load demands being placed on it. This drops once complete (which you're seeing) and then run up slightly with opening software, but drop back once done.

Feel free to relax now and enjoy your toy :).

Oh, thanks. It just seemed strange to me that 200% of the CPU would be used up all at once.

Also, the fact that the CPU speedsteps (i.e., changes frequency according to load) is misleading, since 80% CPU load at 1.2GHz is not the same with 80% load at 2.2GHz :)

But yeah, it's normal for the CPU to be used to full once in a while. If it stays like that constantly, with no good reason, then it's time to worry :)

Hmm.. now I'm starting to notice that even using firefox to browse this site, it's at about 50%. I'm not downloading anything or running any other applications other than firefox. Does this happen to any of your B1 owners?

Check what's using up your cpu in windows task manager, I'm using about 3-5% with firefox...
