I have a really hard time finding windows 7 drivers for F8Sp-X1. Anyone had any success finding drivers for that laptop? I got my laptop in June 08, and Windows 7 was released in July 09. Another year has passed since then and still no drivers. I'm very disappointed that Asus did not release windows 7 drivers for my laptop, and now that I know how they do business, I'm never buying another Asus product ever again.

You don't need any Win7 drivers. I am using F8Va with Win 7 professional without any issues.
Just install the Win7. It will automatically recognize 95% of the hardware. For the remaining ones use the Vista drivers. That's it!

I had it installed, but lots of things were simply not working. Windows 7 wouldn't let me installed Vista drivers. I think not working microphone did it, an I uninstalled it.

I have a very similar model (F8Va) and I have been using it with Windows 7 since day one. I am sure you are doing something wrong. Get an expert help from your friends.

I'm using windows7 on a F8sn and haven't had any problems. Almost everything was auto-detected and the one or two missing parts ran fine from the Asus driver dvd that came with the system. Which components are giving you trouble?

Mostly it was non-standard components such as a web cam or a finger print reader, bluetooth. The microphone kind of installed, but it was picking up only very loud noises. The biggest problem was that I couldn't install a single thing from the DVD that came with my laptop, so I didn't have stuff like a nice pop-up when adjusting the volume etc. I kept getting an error message saying that those drivers are not meant to work with my version of Windows - I don't remember the exact verbiage. I had Windows 7 Ultimate installed which I'd think has even larger driver database than subordinate Windows 7 versions. Perhaps if I could somehow bypass this check, or ignore it, and install those drivers, stuff might actually work. Maybe I should look into it. But again, shame on Asus that I have to go to such lengths

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
Asus doesn't, and really never has, written updated hardware drivers for products that have reached End Of Life in the product cycle, which the F8 series from '08 certainly now is. Updated support for my beloved W3 disappeared long ago as well. This is not greatly different from much of the OEM industry.
The popup graphics you mention are run by the Asus' ATK drivers. -
I finally found some time to install Windows 7 again. I did some research on the internet, and it turned out that Windows has something like 'Compatibility Mode'. So I opened up the DVD that came with my Asus, I right-click on the setup.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility Tab -> Run this program in compatibility mode for: -> Vista. I'm not sure how that whole compatibility mode works in windows, and I'm sure there is some translation involved from Vista to 7 and vice versa so things might be slower, but at least I was successful in installing all of the components except for Asus security manager for finger print reader - which I can live without.
