just ordered one from BTOTECH - have good experience - plus its the best price - 1608$ with extra battery.

The only bad side is I'll put my hands on it on Dec 28th cuz thats when I get to US - can't wait.

    sorry for off top.

You will also find some who loved the a8 screen (same screen type as some Dells) and it's hard to get a feel for the screen from a video.

If the manufacturer/model number was the same as one of the A8s, that would be very interesting. If it is different, that would also be interesting.

No one knows the LCD model number?

Well if someone posts the F8SV-B1 number, they can compare it to the CMO on my A8Js. Great screen on the A8, but the viewing angles and brightness are poor.

Exactly my point. And if it's a new/better model number, in all likelihood it would be compatible with the a8.

you can put any 1440x900 lcd into the a8 or f8. they do not have to be the same make or model.

Then wouldn't it be useful to know the model number of the f8sv's lcd that you liked so much?

They don't have to be the same make or model, but they do have to be compatible, i.e. the same size and everything.

I would love to find a compatible LED backlit screen. Too bad it would be too pricey.

that would void even ASUS's super warranty wouldn't it?

Resolution doesn't matter, actually. Size does though. Just look at the W3J.

    I don't know of a compatible 14.1" LED, unfortunately.

    Yup.

odin We were the first and last to offer screen mods for legacy asus asus models. We do not do it any more. resolution does matter but it does not always have to be the same. It is possible to put a lower res where higher was original or vise versa however it usually DOES matter as the date cables will not usually support a higher res or lower res. screen size obviously matters as it wont fit into the frame if it is bigger or smaller. Resolution absolutely DOES matter. 9 out of 10 times you will not be able to put a higher resolution where lower was used as the data cables are completely different. I spcialize in mods like this and others. Take my word over any poster who done it a few times. resolution is the only thing that does matter when changing an lcd. some brands can use a data cable that supports both higher and lower. asus typically does not. a few dozen dells and hp we worked on did not either. Have not done screen mods in over a year now but nothing changed.
