hi all i recently an Asus F8VR

    Asus F8VR
    C2D P8400 2.26GHz, 1066FSB
    4GB DDR2 800 RAM
    320GB HDD
    14.1" WXGA, 1280x800
    256MB ATI HD3470
    with 6-cell battery

my question is about the battery.
i noticed that the 6-cell only lasts 2 1/2 hours.
i always do a full drain each time before i charge.

how long/how many hours do u really need to charge the battery?
normally it completes charging in 3-4 hours.
should i leave it plugged for a bit longer?

at first what i do is, once the orange battery indicator is out, i unplug it from the outlet.

    any advice will be appreciated

    Welcome to the forum!

    1. Probably a bad idea to totally drain a battery every time before recharge (most say 1x/month, if even that) - this can put added strain on the battery and hasten normal LiIon battery decline.

    2. 3-4 hours from full discharge is about right.

    3. Once the light is out, charging is complete and nothing further is gained by leaving it plugged in.

    4. 2.5 hours life with moderate use, high brightness, wireless etc all on, should also be about right for the F8v series.
