Alright so I have come on to the Asus section a few times this past week asking for different input on different models. I have finally decided that if I do go with any of the Asus models it will be the F8sa. There some other models I like a little more performance wise, but I must stay in a price range. Here are a few reasons for my decision:
    1. There's absolutely no way to beat the specs on this thing for the price. 2.2 core 2 duo, ATI 2600 WIFI a/b/g/n, beautiful screen (from what I've heard) etc. $1079 at newegg.com
    2. Portability. Anything less than 14" is just too small for me. Anything over 15.4" too big. I want portability but not too small nor too big
    3. Looks: The thing is just flat out sweet looking (at least from the pics. If you actually own one would you mind giving me your opinion on the looks. I have studied the pics pretty hard online and it looks like one of the hottest looking laptops I have ever seen.)
    4. Price: I am trying to stay at $1000.
    5. Excellent warranty that's included. I have read many positive things regarding the Asus warranty
    6. High quality company that puts alot into each computer
    7. Lot's of nice extras that add up like a optical mouse and nice case.
    8. Not everyone and their grandma has one sitting out at the coffee shop.
    9. Would like to get into some gaming, but I am not too hardcore, just something to pass time everyonce in a while

So anyway, I have pretty much set in my mind this is the laptop for me. I was just wanting to hear from those of you that own one.

The only other laptop I am looking at is a Dell xps m1530, but if I purchase one with the specs I want, it would put me into the $1350 range and I would still have to purchase other little things that add up. I know the battery life is a lot better on the xps, but that doesn't really bother me, plus I have heard a lot of complaints on the screens of the xps.

So basically I am just asking for your imput from all of you actual owners of an f8 series laptop (spcifically the f8sa) and wondering if you think I will be well pleased when I open that cardboard box? I am new to the laptop world (just bought my first laptop a few months ago and already sold it, which was the plan in the first place) and plan on keeping this laptop for a while, so I just want to make sure I am making the right decision.

Thanks Asus community for all your help thus far and I look forward to hopefully joining the community within the next week or two.

    -Jamie

I'm not an owner of the F8, but I can almost guarantee that you'll be very pleased when you open the box :) The F8 has a very nice design.

I've also heard (some very general) good things about its build quality, supposedly that it's slightly better than the average ASUS consumer laptop (F series being a consumer series) but I can't vouch for that. If that's true, you will be able to keep it for a while indeed.

f8sv-b1 has better specs and now offers a 100$ mail in rebate making final price 1399$. Higher res screen, arguably better vga, as well as other differences

Hey, my z70va is pretty much dead so I'm looking towards the f8 as well, although the b1 i think is a good deal, especially with the mail in rebate that Asus is offering. And I've been at BTO the past few days and they have a coupon for a free HD w/ enclosure with a purchase of Asus ensemble (hope i'm not breaking any rules for posting the deal). Anyhow, if you choose b1, you will definitely go over 1k, but you have some sweet extras. But if you dont care for extras, then that f8sa is pretty sweet too =)
