How does this compare to a Dell XPS m1330. I want to buy this laptop and currently have a XPS m1530.

Just wanted to know the quality of Asus compared to Dell? (how good is the screen, build quality, useability)

That will depend on whom you ask. :)

Both notebooks are in the 'affordable performance' range, I think (sort of) so a-priori they are comparable in quality. I have never seen an F9 in real life so I can't give you insight on it... it will almost certainly be plastic. The quality of the plastic, that varies a lot in the F series: for instance the F8 is quite good, while the F3 has a major issue where plastic is cracking in the corner of the palmrest.

On the other hand, the XPS has a brushed aluminum palmrest... you can't beat that, really, especially for a palmrest. Doesn't scratch, doesn't get stains, the paint doesn't wear off. A few issues that I have with the 1330: the screen is rather flimsy and some people report that it rests directly on the keyboard?!? That's very bad design if you ask me. The quality of the screen cover is mediocre. Also, in person, the laptop doesn't look the glory that you see in reviews. It looks sort of... cheap.

But all those things come from me looking into the M1330 as a possible next laptop. I have not looked into the F9, so it might be suffering from equally bad problems. Not to say that it does. :)

One important thing is that the Dell battery life will be significantly better than the ASUS. With the latter you're lucky if you get 2.45 hours on a 6-cell.

The m1330 is a bit too expensive and i'd rather stay away from dell. I have the XPS m1530 and don't like the style and build quality of it (the aluminum palm rest is all i like about the design). I Other people say that the F9 series is in the middle for build quality - not to great but not to bad.

Battery life is not that important. Just 1.5 - 2 hours will do.

Can the F9sg play games? If so, would it be able to run COD4 on lowest settings? (i think it has the 9300m G)

Does the F9sg have a LED screen too?

I have filled out a Which notebook to buy thread please have a look at that and tell me what other laptops you think are good.

    Any help will be good

Maybe you want a smaller laptop for portability...but consider that any 13.3" laptop isn't going to be able to play any new or future games on anything except maybe the lowest settings. I know the m1330 can play Crysis on low settings, the F9 should be able to do the same, as it has a very similar GPU.

Well, That would only apply to FPS games but not all games are FPS. It would depends on what kind of games whether the F9 will last a few years.
