This is crap, it overheats all the time. I had this laptop and gave it away because of overheating and stuttering (I meAN g1)

Yeah, there are heat problems. Maybe look into one of the equally powerful M50 versions? In fact right now I'm not sure they are as powerful GPU-wise, you should check, but there's a good chance they are.

It's an alright laptop, but I had to replace the thermal paste on mine and undervolt it to stop it from reaching insane temperatures all the time. It also suffers from stuttering in games (unless you put it to sleep and wake it up first). I'd look at something else really...

If you do the sleep fix, you will burn your motherboard just as i did. Note: if you have INSANE stuttering after a few minutes of game, DO NOT WASTE TIME AND GIvE YOUR LAPTOP AWAY, this is the first thing, that tells you, that YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH YOUR MOTHERBOARD

if your talking about the G1sn-X1 at Best Buy than that one is pretty good. My gf has one and she's been able to play WoW on it for hours without any problems...ofcourse you won't be able to play games like Crysis very well...but what notebook can? And for 1049...I think it's a steal.

OK, Folker has had a really rotten experience with his G1 which has been previously described elsewhere (and he's pretty bitter about it, understandably), but that doesn't seem to coincide with the majority of other owner's opinions and posts here over the past 12-18 months.

OP (tony) would be best off reviewing the G1 Owners Lounge thread for a rather complete discussion and accounting of benefits/limits of the model.

The stuff in the guide helps, but my G1S still runs really hot.

Yeah, the heat is what pulled me from the G1S over to the M50Sv.

Actually, all the g1s owners have overheat problems (owners who use new drivers 100%)
