Recently ordered an Asus G1 and it came in last week. Upon opening the box and removing the laptop from the protective bag, I noticed something loose in the bottom of the bag. Pulled it out and noticed one of the caps had fallen off of the end of the hinge. Attempted to put it back on, but it does not snap on.

I ordered the laptop from MilestonePC and Danny Li is looking into this for me. I called Asus a few minutes ago and the guy I spoke with said to glue it back on... but Danny told me not to glue it, so I'm going to wait until I hear from Danny.

I'm sure it's not a big deal to most, but when I shell out $2300 on a laptop (ordered it with a T7600 and 7200RPM hard drive), I want it to have all of the pieces attached to it. Can't help but be reminded of the time I ordered a 2002 Camaro SS brand new from the dealership. I watched as they rolled it off the truck when it arrived... and the first thing I noticed was that the lugnut caps had not been installed. Checked in the glove compartment, under the seats, in the 'trunk' area... nope, they weren't in there. The dealership ordered me a set for free and offered to install them, but I know how to turn a wrench. ^_^

Anyway, back to the laptop. After I let the battery charge, I played around with it some. Played Doom 3 and GTAIII. Both ran silky smooth. Started to play around with some of the Vista features and ended up getting the 'blue screen of death'... can't remember the exact cause, but it was some sort of buffer_overflow error. I've got a copy of Windows XP Pro ordered and I'm going to install it on the laptop.

The cap on my G1 fell off about a week after I got it. I super glued it back on, and it's still there...

For that part, I believe you can just glue it on, at the beggining I sai d don't glue it because I thought you were talking about the plastic cover at the bottom of the LCD to cover the wires.

Today I sent someone to Asus Canada notebook service center to make it sure for you, but no luck, they move today and are back to normal tomorrow.
