I am considering either the G1 or A8JS with Windows XP, but I noticed that since Vista came out that the prices for both models with XP increased. The current price at Newegg for the G1 w/ XP is $1798 and the A8JS is $1548 Are these prices going to drop or will they continue to sell at this price until their stock is sold out. Should I wait for a price drop or will it not happen?

Check immediately after Santa Rosa comes out in May. With the new processors, Asus will integrate those processors and new motherboards into their computers.
The demand for older computers will drop, which means you can buy a current G1-equipped laptop for cheaper. -
the msrp of the g1 is going up $100. So even waiting for it to get old it wont get cheaper than what the g1 goes for now, and its only tech advantage is the lightscribe dvd.
The msrp of the a8js is the same but I would look for its price to go down on the market.
Its been a long time since I got mine, but i think the cheapest one i saw was 1380 for the older 100 gb model -
You don't need to buy from Newegg. Try ewiz.com (A8JS= $1,421.40) or excaliberpc.com (G1=$1,695.00) or you can let one of the vendors here price match (I know milestonepc does, not sure about the others).
I wouldn't wait for a price drop. -
in gentech goes for 1499 but they have cheap upgrades

just got my G1 from geared2play for $1699 + 20 for shipping (geared2play.com)
Asus G1 and A8JS - price drop anytime soon?
