My GPU seems to be going bad on my Asus G1 notebook (artifacting independent of OS and drivers at normal temperatures). I started looking for a motherboard replacement, and found that I can get the G1s motherboard. Will the G1s motherboard fit into the G1 case, and will it accept the old RAM/CPU?

    Thanks.

The board design of the two are different and its highly unlikely for one to fit the other. Besides the g1s is well known for its gpu failures so i'll advise to get something different.

Actually, the only difference between the G1 and the G1S IS the motherboard; they use the EXACT same chassis.

I will agree with you with regard to the failing G1S though. But if you ( OP ) can find the board for cheap, and need something to replace your current one, I dont see why not, just know that it too can fail.

I did some further research and found that the G1s uses socket P while the G1 uses socket 479. I would have to get a new CPU as well, and by that point it I might as well get a new notebook =/

    Thanks for the replies guys!
