    Hi there.

I recently purchased an asus G1 notebook and im having issues with it. The startup time is slow and there is ALOT of programs running in the backround which i think is slowing it down.

Its strange though. The OS loads pretty quickly and i can move the mouse around the desktop but cannot click anything and then after a few mins the computer starts 'thinking' and all kinds of programs load. Things like norton, multiframe, net4switch to name a few.

I also have a Cingular internet card thing, the one that slides into the pci express slot on the side. Now, to use this card i have to use some software called Cingular Communicaton Manager. Before i can use it i have to right click on all the little programs that run on the bottom right of the taskbar and exit them. Then i have to open the communication manager and then insert the card. If i dont do this the computer just grinds to a halt and stops responding.

Does anyone know of any conflict issues with these types of internet cards? And how to fix them?

Its very annoying. It takes me about 15 mins from pressing the on button to the time i can finally do basic things like check my email.

Also, how do i see whats running in the backround, whats running at startup and how do i turn all the crap i dont need off?

All i want to use the computer for is playing world of warcraft and browsing the web.

    Thankyou.

It's an annoying issue that I've encountered countless times with windows (including XP). My 5920G with vista is like this as well in the beginning. Here are some of stuff I tried and now my 5920G boots faster than ever.
    1. Defrag the system
    2. Type msconfig to open an useful utility. Go to boot tab and change timeout to 3.
Hopefully these will work for you as well.

Get a clean vista disk and do a clean install.

    This usually works 100%
