Hello everyone, first time here but have been browsing quite a bit and learned about a lot of other brands other than just Dell. I am interested in getting a laptop to game with and the specs of the Asus G1 are perfect for me I think. Of course, I would like to have a Dell XPS 1710 but it gets way too expensive for me. My question is 1) Is the Asus G1 the cheapeast laptop yet good quality out there with those excellent gaming specs? or are there others? and 2) Are there ever sales on it or coupons or rebates or should I just go ahead and buy it for 1800 retail at like a Best Buy?

    Thank you!

Definately don't buy from Best Buy IMO. You don't get the backpack and mouse, you get charged tax, and 1800 is still pretty expensive. If I were you I would wait a little longer cause sellers are gonna have to clear inventory when the G1S comes out.

The G1 has the best performance per dollar on the market in the sub 2500 dollar range. (Because obviously when you get to twice the price and three times the performance the other one will be more bang for your buck, but it still costs almost 4000 dollars.)

I totally agree... Get the G1 once it starts to popup with discounts... Heck, get it now if you really need one... :)

AFAIK, the G1 is the best 15.4" gaming laptop in terms of performance/price ratio out there, but if you can wait a bit and spend a little bit more, I should recommend you to wait for the G1S instead.

I might even consider selling mine just to upgrade it to the G1S sometime soon... :)

(As Far As I Know -- AFAIK)

I think the G1 is THE best performing 15.4" laptop around period. There are faster, but they overheat and will die soon or are butt ugly and still not as fast.
