This for 1839. at Xotic. (G1S-A1). Am I missing something here? I can't see getting the G1 over the C90. I have a copy of Vista Ultimate so I don't need the OS. Yes, I'm a gamer.

    Comments appreciated.

The 8600 in the G1S has GDDR3 video ram, so it's better than the one on the c90

Ah, see I overlooked that. But, will the FSB show improvement on the C90? My limit on spending is right at 1800 bux. The C90 has a faster HD, faster FSB, Faster cpu, slower video card. But the C90 is supposed to be upgradeable. Interesting. I also use XD cards :). Any other comments welcome.

    thanks

right now the g1s will be better at games, in the future if ddr3 upgrades are available for this laptop then this will surpass the g1s

The c90 there is overpriced. Get it from 1toppc.com (gentech), yours is exactly the same as mine only i got the 5400 rpm drive, but it should be a 100 less or so from 1toppc.com Mine was exactly the same as yours except hd and i got mine for 1600 with 3 day shipping.

I did the exact same spec markup for him at gentech and it came out to be 1701 with the 3 years warranty.

I got a e6600, 2 gigs ram, 160 5400rpm hd, and vista ultimate from gentech for ~1700 also. Plus, they have better customer support than dell and hp.

Ken from Gentech says their shipping those with some weird no-name ram now as they're out of Kingston, Corsair, etc. Can't remember the other post.

    Benefits of the C90 :D
    Faster processor/FSB
    Fingerprint reader
    2 MP webcam
    upgradeable GPU

    Benefits of the G1 :D
    faster graphics card
more battery life (2 and 1/2 hours for the g1s as opposed to 1 hour and 40 minutes for the c90)

    Negatives of the C90
memory is down clocked to 533Mhz, and even in over clocked mode it never gets to 667 mhz (so it will not preform up to the same speed as the other notebooks with 667 Mhz memory out there). :(
    limited to 3GB of RAM
    consumes battery quickly

    Negatives of the G1
    no swivel webcam
    no fingerprint reader :(

Memory downclocked? Why would that be? Why 3 GB ram? I use Vista 64...you're not talking about Vista 32 limits are you?

Thanks Cancer. Very enlightening thread. Most of my reading on NBR has been in the Sager section. My son has an A8js since about Feb...still looking for new Vista 32 drivers for that 7700 he's got in there...but that's another post :)

Only thing avid is a do search on vicious's explanation on the ram at 533. In basic terms its better for overclocking at 533 rather then 667. Hes explained it a bunch of times too lazy to write it all.

It's the chipset, wich is a modified 945G from what I know. Some ressellers are listing the C90S as being 945PM but 945PM is the 667mhz C2D (pre-Santa Rosa)
