I keep reading reviews and it says that the screen is wobbly a bit and that it doesn't close firmly. What is the extent of this? I read that it would be annoying in a car or vehicle, I mean if the screen is THAT wobbly I imagine that being a huge decider.

I love the specs, but the quality of the hinges and its durability are scaring me.

If it was that bad, then it would render the notebook unusable wouldn't it? I've only heard of a few circumstances of a wobbly screen, but as long as its on a solid surface that isn't moving, it shouldn't be an issue. No matter what notebook, the screen will be wobbly if under circumstances, since the screen and hinge are physical moving parts.

I don't find it wobbly if its on a solid surface, but using a notebook in a moving vehicle isn't the best choice anyways. There are moving parts inside(especially the HD), having the notebook move around can create havoc for the HD.

9 out of 10 lcd's in the same size will be "wobbly". the reviews you are reading are fairly unreliable. A wobbly screen is a screen with bad hinges. a screen that wobbles due to suddent movement is doing what it should do. Imagine if your shocks on your car didnt wobble when hitting a bump? the car eventually would fall appart. Go back to the reviewer and tell him to site the difference between a wobbly screen and a screen that wobbles when expected to to wobble :)

But how much, I hear the HP nc8430 has like a solid durable design. To be honest it would bother me very much if I couldn't use the G1 in a car simply because the screen wont stay still.

When i see on the news "man crashes and kills a cow while D.W.U.L" i will know that it was you. The only reason there is no law against dwul is becuase people dont use laptops while they are driving. now if you mean you want to sit it on your lap and use it while someone else is driving then that is ok. Its not like you have to hold the screen. You are wobbling with the laptop and the car. It actually feels quite stiff. You are blowing it way out of proportion
