    Hi everyone!

My current version is 205. I know there's a new BIOS (300) and I know that, besides the Penryn support it also fixes some memory bug that is irrelevant to me.

I intend to install Windows XP in the machine and I wonder what are the changes of 300. Is it a good improvement over 205 (I heard the performance decreases with the new bios...)

So, the point is: 205 good enough or 300 is mandatory?

    Hi,

You don't need to upgrade to bios version 300, unless you have more than 2GB ram installed. If you have 2GB ram or less, bios version 205 is okay.

I just got 4 GB of RAM on my Asus G1S... Should I then upgrade?

I use Vista SP1 and it recognizes the whole 4 GB but on the Task Manager I only get to see 3070 which I think it's normal due to Vista being only 32 bits.

What are the benefits of the BIOS upgrade for me then?

    Cheers!

    None.
BIOS 300 is known for the CPU whine issue, personnaly i get it , and i downgrade to 205 without problems.
