    Hello,

I recently, about 2 days ago, returned from a 3 month trip to Colorado. However, before I went I stored my G1S in the backup it came with and placed it in my closet. Everything great up to this point.

Anyhow, I arrive home and upon boot find a black screen with not even the bios graphic showing up; although, the bios sound, that explosion, is still present.
I have tried an external monitor and checked the RAM with no success. I have not witnessed a single flicker come across my laptop's LCD and am beginning to think it may be the GPU.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions as to where the problem might lie.

    Thank you.

    Adam

If it's still under warranty, it's RMA time. Best to use your warranty. My G1S simply died on me one Saturday afternoon. It worked fine in the morning. RMA time.

Thanks Metril. Unfortunately it has been more than year since I purchased mine, and I think the one-year warranty is up. However, I do plan on calling Asus about this.

I'm pretty sure ASUS gives out a 2 year warranty. Unless you bought it from Best Buy, which only comes with a 1 year.

Sounds like the inverter went bad. My G2S just had the same problem. Got am RMA and had it back and fixed in 3 days including shipping. Asus does a great job backing their product.

If it's not working on external monitor, it's not the LCD.

You could try the No POST checklist, in my Tips and Tricks.

Thank you for all the tips.

E.B.E, I am looking at the 'No POST' checklist now; if I cant figure it out I guess I will have to call Asus.

    Thanks again.

I didnt buy it from Best Buy. I dont know why I was under the impression it was a 1 year warranty. I actually got it from GenTechPC.

I'm pretty sure the US only gets 1 year of warranty sadly...

Asus started the 2yr US warranty sometime around 18-24 months ago on select models, then went to all of them later on.

PM or call Ken at GenTech, he can get you the exact info for your notebook.

Yeah, I think that the 2yr warranty went in force before any G1S-es were sold, so _bare should be covered by that. (no pun intended... :) )
