I just got my G1S today, and when I checked the vista performance score it says 4.4. I have tried fully charging my battery, still says 4.4. I also tried unplugging the power adapter and it still says 4.4...Is there something I Have to do? Lastly how do I turn off the side lights lol.

Yeah many of us get the 4.4. I simply uninstalled the bloatware and re-ran my performance. The CPU performance went to 5.1 after that.
One of the Asus' control panels (can't remember the exact name) is where you can turn off the side lights. Do a quick search and you'll get the program name to launch so that you can turn 'em off. -
5.1 o_0? I removed the bloatware and got mine to 4.8.
-
Wait, so whats that # supposed to be? Not 4.4 or 5.1?
-
Sorry let me correct. My overall score went from 4.4 to 4.8. Sorry I meant to say that my CPU score went from 4.4 to 5.1.
-
Ahhh
. Same here - you gave me a heart attack

Asus Direct Console> Asus Direct Flash > Off
This will not turm them off but will keep them from blinking.
Opps. They are turned off too. Its just the color is very reflective. -
The vista experience score rates on the lowest score instead of the median which i think blows. Mine is 4.8 since the memory scored lowest on mine with 2 gigs.
5.1 on processor
5.9 graphics ( desktop w/aero)
5.4 3d and gaming graphics
5.2 HDD
I got an improvement from the 4.4 score upon removal of splendid, instafun, multiframe, and data security updater thing, and I kept direct console but turned off flash. Splendid was not necessary to remove since i did that last after my score already increase to 4.8. So that one isn't a big memory hog really.
Games are running really smooth for me since I updated to the 163.11 drivers. I'm having a blast with this G1s.
enjoy and take care everyone - Robin -
what does the "desktop w/ aero" next to graphics mean? Is this a setting that I can set to get my graphics up to 5.9? Or some overclocking software I need to install?
-
Well, these are not "G1S CPU performance issues". They are the generic issues of having a bloated Windows installation. Just remove all the cr_p, and the computer will run much better. Or better still, do a clean install such that the cr_p never even gets the chance of being installed.
About the Vista Experience: it's perfectly fine to use it to assess what and why is wrong with the performance of the notebook. It's perfectly pointless to use it as an ultimate goal of setting up the computer (E.g., OMG what can I do to increase the index from 4.815 to 4.82?!!?) Well, I'm exaggerating but you get my point

I don't understand something in general. I tried to follow the directions of user RMPG505 in removing Instantfun, Multiframe, Splendid, the security updater, and setting Direct console to not flash. But what is the theory behind removing bloatware that is not memory-resident? For example, Instantfun does not seem to run in the background. At least I couldn't find it using msconfig or the task manager. If there is no live process or service running Instantfun, then unless I run it, it only takes up space on my disk drive, right? How can it slow down my notebook?
Vista Experience for me says my HDD is performing at 4.7, and definitely not the 5.1 that RMPG505 saw. It seems that something is slowing down my access to HD and I would be interested in getting rid of that something. -
By bloating the registry (and also the filesystem to some extent) and thus slowing down Windows. Agreed, a much smaller effect than having the bloatware running all the time, but it's well-known that uninstalling or stopping bloatware is less effective than doing a clean install.
Is your Vista installation new? When it's new I've heard that it indexes all or much of the hard drive (supposedly for better performance) If so, wait for a few days/a week and see if things improve.
Otherwise, you could always do a clean install (insert recovery CDs, do not insert drivers CD when requested to do so but reboot the machine instead).
