Sometimes on my laptop the driver does not read any disk. I have to restart the computer in order for the drive to work. If I try to play a cd or dvd I get an error message saying "Please insert a disk into the drive." How do I solve this problem. It does not happen all the time thank goodness.

That shouldn't be happening. Just to correct you a little bit, it isn't any "driver" that reads your hard drive. Rather your BIOS reads the disk, which in turn contains a MFT (Master File Table) that will boot you into Vista. Drivers are what you'd be using within an Operating System.

The only suggestion I can make is to open up the HDD compartment (it's the rectangular object sticking out of the bottom of the G1S, has two screws on top), remove the rubber tabs, and then shift it upwards and remove the HDD, and then reattach it. It's possible something is weakening the connection.

If that doesn't fix your problem, I would give ASUS tech support a call, since that should not be happening.

Oh also, removing the HDD won't void your warranty just incase you're worried. You will need either a very small phillips head screwdriver, or a larger one with a very sharp tip.
