    Hi.

The G1S cought my eyes but I have a little dilemma. Since I live in Sweden and I´m going to Brittain in 3 weeks time or so and I really want the G1S with me ready installed and all.

In Sweden I´ve only seen the laptop in one reseller( www.webhallen.se), which only has it for pre-order, but the availability changed to the last of july just recently. I can´t wait that long.

My other option is to order over seas from GentechPC or something. The thing then is that they will add toll and VAT to my import from US. so the normal 2000$ will end upp around 2750$. Kinda expensive.

My third option is to have my little sister buy one in US, since she lives in NYC. That way she could bring it to me next time she flyes to Europe. This will give me the same price as in the US and hopefully get me the computer quicker. My only problem is then about the keyboard. We use letters such as (å ä ö) in Sweden but I guess I have to buy stickers for my keyboard and change the keyboard language. Second... I wan´t to know how I will do if I get a bright dot on my screen while I´m in Sweden or UK. Warranty issues are also of my concern.

Please give me advise... both from gentech and all others please.

My aunt is going to bring me G2S From USA Texas, i live in brazil, with Toll i´d pay like 2800$, if i do not tell the airport that im with an Eletronic product and try to pass through it id pay Nothing no Toll..., just 2000$, but if she is caught (my aunt that lives on Texas) i ll have to pay a 100% toll penalt, that means 3800$ - 4000$, so are u sure Europe gets Free eletronic products pass, or would u pay penalt like me (In Brazil)
I'd like an advice about how could my American Aunt bring my Asus G2S without any problems, what are the choices and what do you guys recomend?

    Thx i´d appreciate any opnion!

what blazzter is saing is in moral but I'm doing the same thing :D
when you bring it leave the box in the trash or in the suitcase and just pass, if they say anything say that it's not new and that you didn't buy it in your trip
If the tax where lower I'd pay then but damm with that I could buy another one (of coures not a G1S)

OFC I´ll tell her to take it out of the box and maybe remove all the stickers. I don´t think it should be any problem since she lives in NYC. If I would have gone there and brought one home myself it could turn up to be a problem though.

If you aunt takes it out of the box, puts it in the targus bag which is included I think it shouldn´t be any problem at all. She can just claim it´s her´s and they can´t put toll on someone´s laptop for bringing it inside the country on a visit.

But man, she came here before, and some friends have told me that the limit to bring in products is 500$ dollars
so if they see the G2S even without the Box and inside the Bag, with her claiming that the G2S belongs to her they ll say: "The limit is 500$" so she ll have to pay Tax/toll over 1500$ (2000-500$)
    got it ?

i hope u guys are right, but she told me that, and a few people said the same

    keep talking, thx :)

That sounds really odd. So "products" worth 500$ are allowed in... but is this the electronic products or products in general?

So, basically, even businessmen aren´t allowed to bring their laptops on their trip without paying tax/toll. It´s just not right. I think that limit of 500$ is if YOU go abroad from Brazil, and then return with purchased wares.

Eletronics products only that i know.. but must work on other kind stuff clearly.

Yes it works in Brazil, but it works also in USA,
USA airport somehow knows that shes bringing the Notebook to brazil (in that case she is ABROAD of her country USA). She is Braziliam and American also
    double nationality.

so she comes back to USA from brazil without notebook, then they ll notice that and they ll apply the tax/toll penalt.
(in Brazil or in USA) so i cant scape i think,
the 500$ limit is to avoid people buying products and reselling those inside their home country (like my case), but just one notebook G2S must be easier !

any idea where can i find more information about it ?

    Thx again

I doubt customs would crosscheck the luggage she took out of the country with what she's got with her when she comes back, I never noticed customs making lists of what people have in their luggage.

She should carry it with her on the plane. Just tell her to say that she used for a year already and she bought it for $800 US but now should worth no where near that price. I doubt they are going to go on the internet and check what brand or what so ever as long as whatever you said make sense.

I doubt that the airport personal will remember every person that comes in and out and what they where carring (thats impossible). I live in venezuela next to brazil and I can tell you that here they won`t remember you after a max of a week (trust me)
just make sure that she doesn't bring the box

Thx ll do it, do i tell her to bring it inside the lugguge, bag, or carrying it around her armys ?, what do u guys think, i think it doesnt matter cuz when people are going through the hall, if the RED light turns on , all those people who are on passing by the hall will have to be inspected

    Is that right ?

    =)
