    Hi,

My gpu is getting very hot ingame (110° celcius), and remains hot idle (83° celcius).
    How come ?

Has any of you experienced the same ?

    Cheers

That's very high. Check the drivers for what the threshold temperature is.

    Hi, I am Italian.
I have the same problem of emppapy, i buy the G1S-AK005C 3 weeks ago; the temperature of the GPU is very high and the fan noisy in games (but not only!)...
Where did you see the temperature of the GPU? Which utility have you utilized?
After the purchase I removed Windows Vista and I installed Windows XP, with all the drivers and the Asus utilities, but I never seen in my laptop utilities a "GPU temperature"!
I'm searching an utility which can lower the frequency of the GPU core and memories, someone know something about?
    Thank you!

use ntune from nvidia & nvidia console. that wil give you a close temperature reading

Yes, as others said, check the temperature with Ntune. Anyway it's normal that the computer feels hot and that the fan is loud while playing, but you might also have a problem.
    Ntune will tell you ...

my GPU is 81.5 oC idle wtf? my g1s-a1 is stock besides turbo memory and i have vista ultimate 32bit.

in WoW my GPU went up to 101 oC and probably would've went higher if i played longer. Fan was on 100%.

good news I guess is that the CPU never goes above 81 oC...

anyone know if these numbers are normal?

Are you sure your not blocking the vents? Using the Notebook on a hard surfice, like a table?

Possibly try to prop up the laptop, so that there is more airflow.

Also you may want to use a can of compressed air and blow out the vents, it may have some lint, hair, dust stuck in it, which can cause temps to rise significantly.

Yeah MilestonePC.com I have my laptop on a shoebox at the moment, I used my air can on my vents, nothing was in there. It's just sitting idle at 82 oC right now and CPU is 59 oC. I'm just browsing this website.

Now that I think about it, i did install the newest drivers on laptopvideo2go.com website, but I roll'd back to the asus stock drivers the next day. could that have messed up the gpu?

another thing, when 100% battery and plugged in, my CPU-Z Core Speed is 27132.3 MHZ....

when I unplug it, it caps at 2194.5 MHZ

is there something wrong with my CPU too? i didn't overclock it or anything as far as I know. thanks again.

Ok, try without the shoe box and check both CPU GPU, but also get the HD temp. Use HD Tune to get the HD Temp. Using the laptopvideo2go drivers.

Test idle, browsing and gaming temps.

Then rollback to stock Asus drivers and run the same temp checks and settnigs. Report it here and compare.

With regards to your CPU, I believe there may be a problem with CPU-Z in properly reporting CPU speeds, very few programs do it correctly. So for now ignore that, and if you want to test, download Super Pi, and calculate 2 million, and make sure for AC in and 100% battery charged, the time is roughly 57 seconds or so. If that happens you should be ok.

    I used Super-PI and got 54 seconds on 2M, so I guess it's fine.

    For my temps:

    Idle Gaming
    CPU 61 78
    HD 52 52
    GPU 82 104

For Idle I had uTorrent seeding, avast! virus scanner on, and browser up.

For Gaming I had 2 WoW's running in windows mode max resolution, uTorrent, avast!, and browser up.

My driver is 7.15.11.119 - ASUS website. I roll'd back from the laptopvideo2go drivers because it wouldnt let me use WMP and play WoW at the same time.

So, are these GPU #'s normal? HD didn't change and CPU doesnt look that high. Thanks again.

To be honest they look fine, when you compare it to other G1s owners. Do you personally find it too warm or hot anywhere? And your testing method seems fine.

If you do find the temps to bother you, then consider getting a laptop cooler in the future. A lot of people are using them for the G1P.

I agree your CPU and HD seem fine, and I believe from what everone else is stating the Nvidia 8 series GPU are a bit hotter than previous generations. Besides the G1S has GDDR3 vram, so it is roughly 25% faster than other laptops with DDR2. According to Synthetic benchmarks.

Well actually these temperatures look way too high to me. Indeed it seems that the GPU of this notebook hardly gets above 90-93°C.
I sent a mail to Asus telling them that my GPU is 83°C idle and 104-110°C gaming and they told me to send it back to them for repair.

Moreover, it seems that this high temp hinders performance. I'm stuck at 3200-3300 points at 3dmark06 (whereas most users get around 3800-4000 points) and in some games fps regularly suddenly drop very low ...

Finally, I tried different drivers and using the recovery disk but nothing has changed. Therefore I advise you Hai1242 to run 3dmark06 test and post your results here (along with temperature of the GPU if you can log it with Ntune).

    Regards

The 8000 series runs very hot by design guys and in a laptop it's doubly so. Unless your FPS goes to complete **** after playing for a little bit you have nothing to worry about. Pretty sure the heat threshold on these things is 120*C.

Edit: Mine is idling at 75-79*C.

    I ran 3DMark06 two times. 3775 and 3809.

I did not know how to turn off Vista Aero or whatever so the score might have been better.

The temperature capped at 97 oC during the test and dropped back to 80 oC seconds after the test was over.

I am just going to assume these temps are normal. Thanks everyone for the replies. I have a 3 year warranty anyway :D

The GPU in my G1S is getting really hot to:
In the summer my GPU (while i was doing NOTHING)was like 73°C, now It's 63°C

Now: My GPU temp. climbs up to 95°C while playing Call of Duty 4...
It's just to high for me...
Anybody has some tips to reduce that temperature?

In december i'm going to buy a notebook cooler (zalman) but that will reduce the temp. maybe with 5°C (i think)

I have a Zalman NC1000 cooler for my G1s and on idle it is ~59'C under power saving. On high performance, it's around 65'C idle. This is with the cooler fan set to lowest setting. Dont quite remember the temps with max fan setting. Under load I dont think the GPU goes pass 80'C with max fan.

    CPU idles at around 40-45'C

Ambient room temperature is about 20-21'C

i have the g1s and zalman....and maybe it is just me but the zalman seems to have no effect on the temps? i turn it off let it run for an hour and then turn the zalman on and let it run for an hour....same exact temp.....i even put the laptop on my desk when i was testing the temp without the zalman

however, the new 169.04 driver did reduce my gpu temp by 10 degrees celcius

    Yea, indeed
The 169.04 driver reduced my temp. to :)
But under full load (while gaming) i really think the temperature is to high :(
Maybe ill use a program that lets the fan run on full speed all the time (you guys got any programs for that?)

i was going to do that, but when i did some research, everyone says that having ur fans on at all times will reduce the life span of your laptop.... =

95 degrees is fine you do know? Its designed to take that beating.... as long as the fan is constantly on and chugging......

my temperature under load is definately A LOT cooler with the cooler. idling, there isnt too much of a difference.

Im still using 163.44 drivers. Anyone else using 169.04 ever used 163.44 before? How bigs the diff in performance and temps?

169.04 has been shown to have the best current FPS increase over any other older drivers. however, the stability is questionable.... As is some of the functionality... Otherwise, its much much better than the stock, or other drivers.

    i just went from 163.44 to 169.04

temp dropped 10 degrees celcius for my gpu

I can't say for the fps because i OC'd my gpu to 575/800

under full load, it only reaches 96, which was what it originally did with the 163.44 driver
