Well, I did delete my original post (or rather, a Mod took the hint). I read the FAQ at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=122632#asusrecovery ... but that didn't get me anywhere, nowhere I wanted to explore, at least.

I have in my hand the Recovery DVD from Asus ... which does nothing nor has any indication of an autorun program.

Basically, I've moved all the files I want to keep to D:\, and want the main drive (C:\) to have a reformat to 'Factory' condition -- i.e. just with stock programs and Windows Vista. Start over, get rid of lots of the clutter in my hard drive.

I'm a tad stumped at the moment as to where to start, could someone give me a bit of a push?

put the recovery dvd into the dvd drive, restart the computer, but go into bios and set it to read from your cd/dvd drive first. then save & exit, and your computer will restart again. it'll allow you to reformat back to factory defaults.

All you have to do is hit one of the F-keys, F2 or F12 I think, and that will bring up the boot menu.

F2 or F12 after putting the DVD in and during reboot?

ANd How do I access BIOS to set it to read the DVD as its booting?

one of the options will allow you to set boot order. you want to set cd/dvd drive above your hard drive, so it'll read that you want to boot from that first. right after you get the "boom" sound, it'll tell you which f key to hit to get to bios.
