Today while i was on my computer (Using a Torrent Program and Playing Music Through Itunes) I accedently disconnected all power to it. I had taken my battery out and forgot so when i unpluged the power cord it shut off. WHen I tried to restart it after plugging it in again, it wouldnt boot. No bootsplash screen or anything. I tried everything including the booting from the dvd disc but it still doesnt work. ALl I get is a blank screen when i press the power on button...

Any suggestions as to what is wrong or how to fix it?!?!

Sounds almost like a mobo/power supply issue. Do you get any sounds from the hdd, fan, or cpu after pressing the power button? If these make 'normal' sound, then it may just be a screen issue.

Sometimes resetting the BIOS would work in such cases. you will have to remove and reinsert the CMOS battery to do this.

Leave your battery out of the notebook, unplug it and flip it over. Look for a pinhole with a symble >o< above it. Get a pin and hold this button down for 30 seconds then leave the notebook sit for 15mins and come back to it and see how it works.

Do you have the "Kaboom" on boot? Might be a GPU meltdown >.<

Ok so first of the fan makes noises and the dvd-rw drive spins and will open and the light flashes.

Second the there is no "Kaboom" on boot... its the first thing that made me think something was wrong....

I pressed the pinhole with a pin and waited but it still does the same thing...

I don't know how to reset the BIOS and i don't even know how to remove and reinsert the CMOS Battery.... If you could give me directions I would like to try it....

    thanks for the suggestions!

Are you holding it down on the button for 30+ secs?

I think the CMOS battery is in the lower right hand corner there, the metal circle looks like a CR 2032 battery to me. I could be totally wrong.

Edit: I should have looked at the hi-res: http://bp0.blogger.com/_0ObWSMNjJpY/SFybRyX7x1I/AAAAAAAAAsk/T_NqsLsT77Y/s1600-h/HPIM2055.JPG

    That's definitely the battery ;)

Yes I did hold it down for 30+ sec....

OK so that seems easy enough( the CMOS battery) but how do i get to that part of the computer without destroying it lol... sorry if i sound ignorant but i've never dealt with hardware issues before.... and i don't wanna mess it up more ...

It's going to be hard to get at, and it will void your warranty (not sure if this is a consideration for you).

Here's the instructions for that image I linked to:
    http://serialize.wordpress.com/2008/06/21/asus-g1s-cpu-gpu-and-arctic-silver-5/

Obviously you don't need to do the last few steps! ;)

Also you may not have to take the LCD panel off... you might just start with taking the keyboard out.

There is no G1S or G1Sn disassembly guide that I can locate...

One other thing to try would be to press just the power button a couple of times with no battery in. Like in my Tips and Tricks (which also contains other tips for such a no-POST situation). But I'm afraid given the things tried above this does not have a good chance of success.

    Could be tried nevertheless.

I'm having this issues as well. I put my computer into sleep mode and it didn't come out the next day. I powered it off and then it wouldn't load up. I get the explosion boot up sound and some HD access noise but then it just cuts out. A friend commented that the BIOS is stopping at some point. There is no signal going to the monitor.

Any suggestions? I haven't tried taking it apart at all yet.

It certainly does NOT void your warranty to replace a CMOS battery. That's an operation akin to replacing RAM.

After doing a lot of research it looks like the black screen on boot is an issue with the nVidia 8600gt that is built into the g1s. They are notorious for melting down and causing all sorts of problems.

Can anyone repost that picture of the CMOS battery and location? I can't seem to find it anywhere and that link no longer works. I'm trying to resurrect my G1. It comes on for a bit and the explosion pic comes up, but then immediately dies. The hdd is fine, I took it out and plugged into my external adapter. I've reseated the memory modules. I've hit the reset button, but the hdd is out right now and being scanned, so I'll plug it in and hold the button down when it's done. I did take off the keyboard, but still didn't see anything resembling the CMOS battery.
