Sad times. My G1S seems to have the GPU problem that is so common with the model (screen glitches, black screen on wake, and finally booting to a black screen with no way to restore visuals, even with external vga). I'm planning to RMA the thing, but knowing that the company may put in the updated mobo, I want to save my precious data.

Maybe I'm mentally challenged, but I'm not sure how to get the hdd out. I opened up the underside housing, but can't really see how to pull the thing out. There are star screws there, but those look like they are to take the hdd APART. I could be wrong though. I am also a little tentative to try to 'pop' it out because the thing is FLIMSY and I don't want to do any damage. Does anyone know exactly how to remove the hdd or have a link to a disassembly guide for the G1S?

Thank you in advance. I appreciate any help, even if you think I'm a bit of a dunce.

There should be a hard foam kinda thing thats lodged between the case and the hdd which is glued onto a ribbon kinda thread.
Pull that out first then slide your hard drive to the extra space created then pull the hard drive out.

Will it really? I thought hard drives were one of the things that don't void if you swap them out.

Removing/replacing your hard drive will NOT void your warranty.

Indeed David is correct (I'm adding my support, to avoid OP wondering who's correct). Replacing the RAM also does not void anything.

Melina, please don't make such a forceful statement.

I can also confirm, replacing HDD and RAM will not void your warranty.
