Does the Asus G1S notebook is sexy looking as compared to the other laptops . I am in a confusion whether to go for Dell Inspiron 1520 or the G1S . Which looks gr8 . I looking forward to buy a notebook with the following specs.

    Intel Core 2 duo T7500
    2-4 GB DDR2-667MHz ram
    Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT
OS : Any. Dont mind even if it is DOS
    Not more than 15.4inch screen

Also suggest any other notebook which has the same specs mentioned above

I had the same problem...kinda, unless you want to sit through september waiting for your dell go with the g1s. I had to cancel my dell with an order date of 7/4 and ship date of 8/28.

To be honest, it looks much much better in real life. In pictures, it often looks really really 'toyish' and, quote "Like a Fisher Price notebook", it's not justified until a person has it in their hands.

Though the lid and wristrest looks much better in pictures(cause it's partly 'faux') it's still very sharp looking. The rest of it looks much better in person.

Looks are such a personal thing, only you can answer which you prefer. I think the Asus will have a much better build than the Dell. Performance on the G1S will be better. Battery life on the Dell will be better. You have more configuration options on the Dell.

just like the others said, the asus g1s looks really nice, i was afraid it would look to much like a gaming laptop....but people hype it up alot. dont get me wrong, it looks like a gaming laptop but, not as bad as people say. once you see it in person you will love it.

still waiting for my friend to give me adobe photoshop and flash so i can pop that on it :-D

I think the G1S is amazing. The only thing in terms of its "looks" that I'm not so hot about is the direct flash lights on the left and right of the screen panel. You can disable the lights, but it's still a small green area. Luckily it's not easy to see, especially when you are using the laptop yourself (which defeats the whole purpose anyway.

I need to warn you about one thing. The Inspirion 1520's Geforce 8600M GT uses GDDR2 memory, compared to the GDDR3 found in the G1S. So you get a pretty large speed difference in terms of gaming.

That might not matter to you of course, especially since you don't mind any OS. But for someone like me it's a selling point lol.

Oh and one more thing. The GPU on the G1S can be overclocked, and that widens the speed difference even more.

As I said in the thread above, overall this laptop is very sexy, and very fast. The big downside however is the battery life and the weight of this thing.

I would have purchased the Apple Macbook 15.1" with the 256mb Geforce 8600M GT (with GDDR3), since it has far higher battery life and weighs very little. But the premium on it would be almost $1000 more. Obviously not worth the penalty. So the G1S is a huge value, hell it comes with a $100 backpack and a $60 mouse free!

But if money doesn't matter. I would say get a MacBook.
