    Hi guys

First time poster and loving the forum so far. I am going to New york on my holidays to take advantage of the dollar rate compared to the Euro! While there i am hoping to buy an Asus G1s-A1. Can anybody tell me where I can buy one, as I don't want to shop on-line. I found it Here for $1699, is this a good deal and a good store? Is there anywhere cheaper? Oh yhea Is there any better laptops around at the moment?

    thanks in advance

    freddie

You can try Best Buy or Circuit City, i think someone mentioned Best Buy having the Asus G1S. They are plenty of them through out the city, there's a Best Buy on Broadway which is one of the big streets in Manhattan. Also check out J and R, they have a gigantic store in lower Manhattan(close to the WTC ruins). J and R would probably have the best prices, if they do carry it that is.

There are always better laptops around. Whether they are better for you, it's a different question, depending on your needs. :)

Where will you be in New York? I know BTOTech is located in New York, and they 'had' a physical store. Perhaps contact them to see if you can arrange something.

the pic of the V1S there is the G2S

Go for G1S for performance, go for V1S if you mind the "gamer" design of the G1S

The G1S will have better gaming performance due to the GDDR3 memory.

I went to Taipei to get my V1S - but was told by about 10 or so ASUS dealers that the V1S is not available in Taiwan. I ended up buying a G1S for NT$49000 or approx $1500 with full international warranty.

    G1S: better gaming performance

V1S: better build quality. Problems with the battery (see the owner lounge and the batt wear thread for details).
