Hello everybody,
I live in Italy and bought an Asus g1s-a1 in the states and didn't find the recovery dvd with the computer, so I called Asus to know how to get one and they told me I have to pay 50 Euro about 75 $ to get one. I don't want to spend all that money for something I think I paid with my computer.
I only have a hidden partition recovery that works with F9.
I wanted to put a new bigger hard disk in and want to know if it is possible to make a bootable recovery DVD from the hidden partition or if anybody can send me a recovery dvd in english.
Thanks

AFAIK there is no straightforward way to make the DVD from the partition.
You could however backup the partition with a reliable partition imaging tool (I'll leave it to others to suggest such a tool), and then restore the partition on the new HDD.
The easy solution is indeed if someone will make an ISO out of their DVD and send you a download link. That would be fair use, in my opinion, but it's not totally legal...it's also possible it won't work because it might check the particular hardware that you have to see it matches the computer with which it's been issued. I'm not sure about this though. -
Please do not post the same thing 3 times, it is unnecessary. I have deleted the other two threads. Hereby I copy the single reply you got from one of them:
