OS: XP (also tried on Vista)

    AGP: nVidia 8600 GT

Driver: nVidia nForce (also tried with the driver provided by Asus for Vista)

Problem: Doesn't show full-screen on TV. I can only see part of my desktop. Then when I move my cursor to one end of the TV screen the display scrolls to the unseen part of the desktop. Tried on 3 different TVs.

    Please help me out.

How are you connecting the TV.

If you are using an HDMI cable and the screen is in clone mode then it is possible that the external TV cannot support the same resolution as your laptop screen. This would cause the scroll effect you are seeing.

Whenever I use an external monitor/display, I choose to extend my desktop onto the external, not just a strict clone/copy of my main screen. Then you can independently change the resolution you want displayed on the external display. Otherwise, if you want to clone your main screen, you have to change the resolution down to the native resolution of your external screen.

I am using S-VGA to RCA(yellow) Video. When I use the TV the only resolution I see for the TV(s) is 640x480, and I still get the scrolling effect. I tried both cloning and extending desktop.

Ye sorry to break it to you but it is likely the issue is caused by the way you are hooking it up. Never tried it that way but you should be almost certain a straigh vga or hdmi will work like a charm. So it is not your laptop is my guess.,

If you're using a Standard Definition TV (SD), I'd suggest using S-video if you have it available on your system. You could also use an HDMI -> RCA adapter if such a thing exists. I'm familiar with DVI -> RCA adapters, but not as familiar with HDMI converters.

If you're using XP, go to Display Properties > Settings tab, and you should have a visual representation of your multiple displays, with a large primary area with a big "1" and a secondary display off to the side (you can drag and adjust where you want it to be, mine is on the right side) with a "2" on it. Click on screen area #2, and then check off the "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor". I often run movies out over S-video on my laptop onto an SDTV at 1024x768. Also, the drop-down menu under the "Display:" heading should say "2. (Multiple Monitors) on xxxxxxxxxx" (x's being your video card). At this point, you should be able to drag things off the edge of your laptop screen and onto the second screen as if you had a dual monitor setup, and run video, etc. I've included a screenshot of how mine looks below.

If you're still having issues, check around to see if it's a driver issue, and upgrade/downgrade as necessary (newest isn't always best, unfortunately).

    Good luck!
