Can we compare 3dmark benchmarks with the G1s, one running xp and one running vista, clocked at the same speeds?

I'd be very curious to see the actual difference in performance xp has over vista before i go through all the trouble to revert back to xp, i have vista on my desktop and I have definitely gotten used to it so the only reason i'd downgrade to XP would be for performance.

    Thanks in advance!

Come back in... maybe 3 days and I will have a review up of a similar notebook (Asus C90) my scores will be abit higher probably but the difference between xp/vista will be the same.

Generally XP is higher than vista, however there are some games getting higher scores in Vista, its really hit and miss. The Vista fps drop isnt bad tho, and you will NEED vista if you ever want to use DX10 for your video card.

I highly recomend Vista, but if you need every single fps, or want to play alot of older games XP may suit you best. Alternativly do what I did for my desktop. Use both, just setup a dual boot.

Great that covers the vista benchmarks now has anybody got the same but under XP?

Yeah, most likely I will end up just using Vista as like I said, I've gotten used to it and there are aspects of it I would miss (file indexing for instant searches, the aero interface, and lots of little things). I'm just curious about this if it would be worth the FPS because I do game a lot.

Id not take ones persons results and then anothers even with the same machine to compare it really needs to be the same person.

You never know what they have done to there machine, they may have antivirus running wich can cut fps due to using cpu resources, or maybe they have older drivers installed ect.

This may also help as the same machine config was used to do these test's on Tom's hardware and they did multiple games and benchmarks. http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/01/29/xp-vs-vista/ Though it's not you config I imagine that you would acheive about the same results even if they varied by a few points or so.

Wow! That was a really extensive comparison.

Basically, if you're doing 3d modelling, stay the hell away from Vista. But for most other applications the performance difference is probably unnoticeable. I think I'll stick with vista. I wonder why those 3d programs run so poorly on vista?
