    hey all,

I just got back my Asus G1s from the repair shop where the techs replaced my LCD screen...because of several stuck and dead pixels I had earlier...

The ironic thing is the screen already has another stuck pixel..... bah, and not to mention (This may very well be just me) the screen appears to be much much more "grainy" than the original screen which appeared to me much more glossy. This almost appears matte to me...? I also deleted pretty much all of the included Asus software including the LCD management one...

It this just me? Or do I have to complain to Asus once again?

If it were me I would, but I am a perfectionist and am not willing to pay almost 2 grand for a "defect". Some may laugh at me but I do not think it is ridiculous. Imagine buying a car for 20 grand and having them drive it up to the door with a big scratch down the side? Would you settle with that? I don't think so and nor should you have to, which is why ASUS has the 30 day pixel guarantee. Let us know how it turns out and I wish you the best as I also get my G1S this week.

Should probably send it in again. Seems dead pixels are getting more and more rare these days. Out of curiosity I've gone to major computer retail stores and ran the Dead Pixel Buddy prorgam on the display notebooks to check for dead pixels, and I don't think I ever found one. My G1 has no dead pixels, nor does my Vaio S-360.

So are any of you experiencing more "grainy"ness on the screen? Also, problem is its already been past 30 days... the only reason I think they repaired it last time is because I had several dead/stuck pixels.

2 Things I can suggest, use Everest and check the screen you got. Hopefully you checked it before you sent it in for repair, but also you can ask someone here what screen they have.

Then you may want to uninstall Asus Splendid software, many report that removing this software make the screen a lot better.

I did not check the screen before I sent it in.... I'm checking what it is now with everest. Does anyone else have this graininess issue, if so what kind of LCD do you have?

And I also deleted Splendid... no effect. Also, apparently my G1s already had Bios 204...?

    Here's what Everest says:

    Monitor Properties
Monitor Name Generic PnP Monitor [NoDB]
    Monitor ID SEC3346
    Manufacturer LTN154P1-L03
    Manufacture Date 2005
    Serial Number None
Max. Visible Display Size 33 cm x 21 cm (15.4")
    Picture Aspect Ratio 5:3
    Gamma 2.20
    DPMS Mode Support None

hmm, Samsung. I was reading that most people who had this problem had Samsung LCDs...

No, dead pixels cannot be fixed in the bios or by an updated bios. You can sometimes fix them by using a pattern of flashing colors and lights if it is stuck:

    http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Stuck-Pixel-on-an-LCD-Monitor

That link has more information on what to do if you don't want to send it back. I have gotten a dead pixel out of my Nintendo DS using a similar method but it later came back so I suggest rma'ing it again.

    I wish you luck...
