If these are GPU temps, I think they are pretty standard from what I remember other people posting. The thermal threshold for throttling down the GPU is I think 120degrees or so, so you can consider yourself safe.

Indeed, i get exact the same temperatures in my G1S...
Everybody says that it is really high. But i think it's safe :)
(I mean i haven't heard anybody who has said that his G1S burned to death lol :D )

But you are using a notebook cooler? Which one if i may ask? :)
    (the zalman ZM-NC1000 ?)

Because yesterday i have ordered the zalman cooler for my G1S... (I hope it helps to reduce my temp. because the zalman isn't that cheap !)

The temperature of the GPU in my G1S is (after some time i booted it up) 62°C while surfing, listening to music,...
When i am gaming it can go up to 93°C ;)

Hello, I'm interested in this too, I know that the 96º are safe but sometimes on that temp the fps drop, especially when I'm playing Cod4 on MP, the FPS tends to drop after 2 hour playing, is tehere any way to cool de GPU withouth making any changes on the Laptop? I Mean no holes no tape removing etc.?

Which is the best cooler? The zalman doesn't seem to help to the GPU temperature reduction I'm thinking on a Notepal Inifnite ( http://deaparatos.com/files/imagenes/notepal_infinite.jpg) or a Recom Cooldesk ( http://www.latiendadelordenador.com/images/RCCDESK22N.jpg)

Any help or tips would be appreciated (Avoid telling me to build my own cooler, that's something I'm considering already xD)

Hey guys just registered, had my G2 for a few months. With nVidia NTune i'm idling at about 70-73C. Playing Crysis, highest I've seen was 95C. Now that seems pretty damn hot, but i've never had any problems. My question is why do these machines get as hot at idle as other peoples with full load? Hope it's safe. O and Im not using any type of cooler. Anyone consider overclocking?

The other machines you refer to have different types of cooling. Such as one of Dell's line...I cannot remember which. It uses a solid copper cooler, most likely in direct contact with the core, compared to how ours in (C90S users), there is a metal plate on ours to help cool the memory, but in return hurts the temperature of the core. Everyone will benefit from a cooling pad. I'm making one right now actually, made of acrylic and 2x120mm fans, specifically Yate Loon D12SL-12's, dead silent @ 12v and the most CFM you can get for silence, they will be wonderful.

if you guys want to, you could also undervolt the computer, therefore reducing overall temp. which might help to also lower the temp. on the GPU which would increase longevity. At idle, i'm at 56 right now. Highest during gaming is 70.

I'm not aware of techniques to undervolt the GPU. CPU undervolting will indirectly help, but not very significantly I expect. Still, every degree matters :)

But if you undervolt the GPU you could lose perfomance, isn't it? If not, how did you manage to undervolt the GPU? Thanks in advance.

If the GPU works stably with lower voltages for the same frequencies, you don't lose performance.

But as I said, I'm not aware of software tools to undervolt GPUs. So this discussion is purely academic.

well, im thinking of just undervolting the CPU. Im just guessing that a lower CPU temp. will help lower GPU temp. as the laptop will have less hotter air around it and will have more cooler air for the GPU to draw upon. Just speculation so that your palmrest isn't warm all the time due to heat. To undervolt, look in the G1S resource thread.

Yep, that's worth a try. I expect a few degrees off since during gaming most of the heat will come from the GPU.
