    Hey,
this is going out to anyone who had the 'upgrade replacement' done to their G1S after having the 8600m GT DDR3 crap out on them.
I am wonder just how much your 3Dmark scores went down with the 'upgrade' from 8600m GT DDR3 to 9500M GS DDR2?
Also I am wondering what 3Dmark thinks of the upgrade with the 9500 overclocked? Along with the temps on the overclock. Basicly I am looking to see if the 9500 can outdo the 8600 with overclocking while staying cooler or about the same temp? (My 8600 was running between 75-80 under load)
I am going to be sending my notebook in for repairs and I want to know in what direction it would be best to aim my guns.

I had the upgrade. And honestly, I was a tad dissapointed.

From the top of my head, I was able to reach 4700 3DMark06 points by overclocking both CPU and GPU on my G1S. (I have everything documented at home, I'll try to post more details as I get back home).

At stock, my G1Sn has a score around 3700 points. So far, I've been able to overclocking it at around 4400 - 4500 pts. In one of my thread, I mentionned that I was able to overclock the GPU at 620/1420/480 reaching a temp of 87 degrees Celsius using a Zalman NC2000.

One thing for sure, it will run cooler.

One thing I can't understand with the G1Sn is I can't overclock the CPU IF the GPU memory is already overclock as I had no problem overclocking both GPU and CPU on my G1S. Basically, I have to underclock my GPU Mem by 10 mhz in order to push the FSB by 10 mhz. So far, I haven't been able to find anyone with that problem. (or people are just ignoring me)

So with a little bit of OC I should be able to get the 9500 up to stock 8600 levels, correct anelectricmind?
That's all I really care about as I don't want to be forced into a GPU that can't pump it out with at least the same power as my 8600(It wasn't even powerful enough, so a downgrade isn't gonna help my gaming any.)

Sorry I can't find my 3DMark06 Scores with my 8600GT. I *think* I was able to reach 4000 pts with a bit of overclocking (530/1160/745 if I remember correctly)

As for the 9500, I was able to reach 4426 pts @ 635/1450/480. Memory would not go past 488 Mhz. That is with a Zalman NC2000 and the CPU Cover off. Also, With 180.84.1 DOX Drivers at Balance settings.

What kind of temps are you running at underload after the OC?

So OC will bring it up to 8600 speeds and heat, sounds decent. Thanks for the upgrade Asus!

Just thought to post my 3dmark05 (haven't run 06 yet) points with stock clocks and stock windows 7 x64 install. Running vista x64 180.70 drivers.

Cpu is T7250 with 4gb of ram, hdd is 5400rpm 250gb. Getting 3dmark05 points of ~7250-7288 running everything stock. Cpu temperature max ~71 and GPU ~88.

I hit a max of 4200ish I think with the TweakForce drivers with the 8600m GT, no overclocking. That was with XP.

the 9500 will be an upgrade solely because it runs so much cooler and has oh so fewer problems than the scorching hot 8600m.

i had mine replaced aswell, and WoW plays so much better on the 9500 only because the GPU is not bouncing off 97 degrees Celsius. it feels like i upgraded from intergraded graphics to top of the line stuff, seriously.

... maybe it's me, but I feel like I miss the "oomph" that the 8600m GT had with GDDR3 instead of DDR2 of the 9500m GS... Something is missing to my laptop ever since ti came back from RMA in December.

    i am being picky...

but then, I once updated a ATI 9800Pro to a x850XT (650$ CAD at the time) because I thought it wasn't performing well in Far Cry.
