Recently Acer has come out with a new "gaming" laptop, that offers the same video card in the g1s, 8600gt, 2 gigs of ram, in a 15inch laptop, for about 1300. Even the speakers are better...because it has a damn subwoofer underneath the laptop...The only drawback, was that they had an intel core 2 duo processor, that was 1.5ghz...which I found very odd on a machine that had an 8600gt. So going off of the price on GenTech, for 1816.00 USD, is it honestly worth paying 500 more for a 2.2 core 2 duo? I mean the 2.2 is a whole lot faster than a 1.5, even for gaming, but is the price difference really only on the processor? The g1s does offer flashy lights and a way cooler look, and bluetooth though...?

Two years warranty also? Mouse and backbag included? Same build quality?

Are you talking about the Aspire 5920?
-
Yes sorry, I found out the model after I posted, and couldn't change the info on it.
The listed price on here is wrong, my best buy store just put it up on display today, and I was told the price was around 1300. I played around with it for a little bit, and it looks really ugly IMO. I don't understand why they would make the exterior black, and the inside white.... -
lol, well just to let you know the resolution is smaller compared to the G1, aswell the acer uses the 256mb vs the 512mb in the G1. And the US version (for those who care) does not come with the funky rotating webcam, as stated on the acer website. I will assume the HDD is 5400rpm but 200gb is a lot.

this laptop has been (and still is) heavily discussed in a german forum. The downside of the acer is:
- low 3DMark-results (35% lower than the G1S, about the same as the zepto 6224/6225)
- questionable build quality
- screen of just 1280x800
- no mouse, no backback
- questionable design
But it is REALLY cheap, so if you're looking for a bargain this for sure is one. I decided to pay more and get a quality laptop that in that price-range brings the best gaming speed you can get. -
the acer seems to be much smaller and lighter than a g1s also.
Even if its cheaper, its still a lot of money. I would not invest that much in an acer until I was sure it came up roses.
Id make sure the owners werent complaining about it overheating like the aspire 5672 That machine is was a good deal also but you dont want to spend $1600 and hope you have a computer for the next few months -
I'm not going to consider another Acer till they ditch those crappy Mat****a optical drives
