    hey guys wanted to update you guys on my new cpu. I upgraded from the t7300.

    Before.

    CPU = 70 idle
    GPU = 76 idle

    After.

    CPU = 50-55 idle with arctic silver 5
    65-70 load running super pi and fresh thermal paste
    GPU = 65-70 I didnt change thermal paste yet.
    75-80 load
    HDD = 45

    One odd thing was when i was running SuperPI. My cpuz was reading 2.7ghz. It was spiking up to 13.5x ratio at 200 fsb. I was using Bios 300. I hope this helps anyone else.

    You weren't necessarily running a full load on your cpu, since superPI is a single thread app. Your new numbers might be artificially low and the folks around here are lately stressed out about the temps in their G1's so this detail could be important. Some of what you're seeing could also be due to the Arctic Silver, since Asus uses simple thermal pads in their stock Ensemble configs if I recall correctly.

    What about trying a true multicore app like wPrime, or dual Prime95 runs to stress test both cores, and then repost?

    i really want to know this too. I'm thinking about buying g1s(8600m gt GDDR3). Saw couple g1s for below $1k so I was going to buy but read so many post about overheating.

    joon82 i can see where you are coming from, you might also want to wait untill it doesnt have a 8600m gt in there too because all the hype lately about them all being faulty

    2x CPU burn in

    CPU = 72-77 at 100% both cores
    GPU = 72 max when playing CSS

    This results were after i put arctic silver on the 8600m GT.

    I really want to get 8600m gt GDDR3. It seems its faster than 9500m and little faster than 9600m gs. Thanks Jpham. I think im going to get g1s and put some artic silver on it.

    I don't think the performance difference is significant enough to risk the overheating issue and the frustration. Just my opinion of course :)

    Does replacing thermal paste void warranty?
