    Hi all,

I've had my G1s since May 2007, and have had just a few minor problems with it... until today.

I shut it down this morning so I could take it on campus, and when I got to campus and booted it up, it asked me to do a disk check. I cancelled the disk check the first time and when I reached the login scrren it made an incredibly loud screeching/ringing noise. I turned it off immediately by holding down the power button, and turned it on again several seconds later. It asked me to do the disk check again and I let it do the check, but after it reached the login screen it made the same loud noise. I turned it off again, and started in safe mode. Everything seems to work fine in safe mode.

The following are the only changes I have made to the laptop:
Upgraded RAM from 2GB stock to 4GB
Upgraded HDD from 160GB 5400 RPM stock to 320GB 7200 RPM
Upgraded OS from Vista Home Premium stock to Win7 build 7201

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    UPDATE:

It appears something is definitely wrong with my mic. That would definitely explain the loud, echoing, "ringing" noise. I started messing with my mic volume settings a few days ago when all of a sudden people couldn't hear me on Skype. Because no one could hear me I turned the mic volume all the way up and I forgot about it. But that still doesn't change the fact that my mic is still really messed up. Anyone have any ideas?
