What are your likes\dislikes about your new baby "G2".
We know the G1 is popular but what made you choose the G2 over the G1.
What makes the G2 a better choice over the G1. Why would the G1 be better.

I personally really like my G2. It has a beautiful 17" screen, the red on black looks very good and the aluminum metal finish on the lid adds a very nice touch. It also plays all my games on either the highest or very close to the highest settings great. I'm very happy with my purchase :D

I think that the G2 Rocks. Great screen and great performance. My only problem is that it is big. I am glad that it came with the backpack because finding a case would be a pain in the bu++

I didn't like the fact I needed to remove bloatware from it, man there was alot. but now that it is gone the thing boots faster then my desktop.

I am glad that I got XPMCE and not Vista.

I had played with the G1 (friend had one) for 4 days prior to me buying the G2. The big deciding factor for choosing the G2 was that i needed a 17" for my digital photography and i also wanted XP. My buds G1 has vista and after seeing all the lil quirks turned me totally against vista.
I was glad i had a choice of OS with the G2. If the G2 only came with vista preloaded then i would have most likey bought the Sony AR.
I was never a big laptop gamer (have a desktop game machine for that) so nitpicking vid cards was not a priority.
I also tested the resolutions between the G1 and G2 with same full screen digital photos on both and there was practically lil difference. There would be a bigger diff on the G1 if i was to be doing a lot of Excel spreadsheet type docs where a few more columns would be viewable but i dont so the extra 150 line diff wasnt even a factor for me.
Ill let the resolution weenies argue that one out lol

Just the bigger screen alone says it all.
And ill have to find some type of thin protector for the left palm rest as my watch will scratch up the high gloss carbon fiber

Im currently trying to customize the red side lights to switch them to blue. Ive already taken the red plastic gels out and i think i can find some blue plexiglass to fit which i think would look better.
Theres already so much blue led lights on the laptop (bluetooth on light, ASUS logo/clock, front charging/wireless enabled lights) already that i think neon blue flashers whould make more sense.

I also think the brushed aluminum of the G2 top suits neon blue lights better too.

I think the blue side lights would look good too. You have to post some pics once you get the mod done.

To be honest most if not all brands of laptops you will need to remove bloatware, especially Dell.

The design is very eye catching that's one thing I did like about the design, however my own personal likings is the design of the V1JP.

One of the reasons why I would pick the G2 over the G1 is the bigger screen, and using it at home and for lan parties and such.

The overall performance is pretty much the same as the G1.

I'm sure many have seen the review, it is in my sig.

Is there much bloatware that comes on the G2? Does any one have a list of all the unnecessary apps that come with the G2?

Shirox the more you use the notebook you will find what you use and don't use, for some people, there are programs that may pertain to what you will be using or not.

You will want to Remove Norton, replace it with AVG Free, also get rid of Asus Live Update because it will cause your notebook to hang and other things, so instead just check the website for updates on drivers.

As for other programs they are your choice, you will see some programs you don't use at all so you may want to remove it, like Net4Swtich, but you may like Splendid, but others may not. So it all depends on your needs.

Noahb91 as for gaming on the G1 and G2, if you compare reviews between them, you will find that gaming is basically the same, there are some games where Nvidia will do better and some games where ATI will do better.

Also right now ATI does a little better than Nvidia in Vista, because of better driver support. However gaming in XP both ATI and Nvidia perform basically the same.

With knowing this would you want a 17" or 15.4" notebook?

No i was just wondering cuz I would kind of rather get a V1JP and I was wondering how much of a difference in gaming there would be between the GO 7700 and the X1700, cuz I will be playing a lot of BF2142 and I want the best gaming I can get.

    hey noah,
If you check the benchmarks on the go 7700, they are higher than that of the x1700. Basically you will get more frames per second and your graphics will be more high end. So yeah, your G1 or G2 would be a better deal for gaming than a V1JP
