    Hi,

i have big troubles with my G2S. Especially my video card Nvidia 8600m GT crashs everyday minimum for 4 times
The screen freezes and i have to restart my PC or the video driver was recovered.
I tried some many drivers with modded inf and the drivers of asus support , but it shows me always the same error.
When I uninstall the videodriver, so only the Standard VGA drivers is in use, the same problem.

I suppose that the graphics card is broken down, what do you mean?

check your GPU Temps - it's probably overheating and shutting down to prevent itself from melting..

You can tell us your temperatures, so we could advice you if it's an overheating problem (fixable) or a graphics card malfunction. Use RivaTuner and tell us your idle/load GPU temperatures

Also, tell us details about that crashing - how and when does it crash ? What goes on screen ?

It could be your RAM, your HDD, your CPU too. You can also try running your Windows in Safe Mode (keep pressing F8 after restarting windows until you get the boot menu), in Safe Mode Windows should not use hardware acceleration of your GPU so if it still crashes, it's probably not a GPU problem.

For RAM testing, search for MemTest+, there are dozens of free boot images with it (you just burn them to a CD and boot from it), make a couple of tests.

i installed riva tuner and it shows me a core temp of 60 degree in idle,
the system is stable at the moment.

when the system crashes, the mouse is stuttering, the diplay is turning black and the the message "display driver failed nvdl*.sys and has been recovered" appears.
but sometimes the systems stops and you have to reboot the pc, because you cant do anything

I have tested different rams, but always the same procedure, so i think there is no problem with the memory.for example
    2 x 2 GB OCZ PC2-5400 667 MHZ
    2 X 2 GB OCZ PC2-6400 800 MHZ
    2 x 1 Hynix PC2-5300U 667 MHZ

my operating system is Windows Vista 32 Ultimate

Could it be a problem with the ACPI (ATK) drivers?

It's definitely an issue with your GPU, either drivers or the card itself....

One thing I can advise you is either to do a clean install of Windows (if you haven't done it yet) or make a dual boot with Windows XP and test is it still crashing. If it is, then you would probably have to RMA your laptop to have it fixed.

Hey I had this exact problem. Its most likely not overheating as my max temps were ~73C. I tried installing 177.26 drivers but they did not work at first, however I did the following and have yet to report a crash:

    uninstall drivers
    reboot in safe mode
    run driver cleaner pro
    reboot and install 177.26
    change aero to classic

Here's a link that helped me a lot.

A lot of people have this problem (and thus a lot of solutions :p). Apparently its a Vista issue that has yet to be resolved.
