Hey everyone, I used this forum a lot to research and eventualy purchase my G2S. First off thanks for all the great input I love it! It is a bit bulky but the screen looks amazing and I have had zero problems with all the games I put on it, even with vista.
My only concern is there is a ton of extra programs that I know are eating up my drive, I really want to have it run bare bone so it can run at optimum speeds. Does someone have a list of programs they removed or a list of the programs they kept? That would really help out. Thanks
Here is a list of the programs I have on there
2007 Microsot Office system
Adobe Reader 7.0
ALPS Touch Pad Driver
ASUS Direct Console
ASUS Splendid Video Enhancement Technology
ATK Generic Function Service
ATK Hotkey
ATK Media
ATKOSD2
Attansic Ethernet Utility
Intel Matrix Storage Manage
Intel PROSet/Wireless Software
JMB36X Raid Configurer
Microsoft Visual C++
Motorola SM56 Spekerphone Modem
MSXML 4.0 SP2
NB Probe
Nero 7 Essentials
Norton Internet Security
Nvidia Drivers
Power4Gear eXtreme
Realtek High Definition Audio Driver
RICOH R5C83x/84xFlash Media Controller
SetPoint
USB2.0 UVC 1.3 Webcam
VistaFeaturePack
Winflash
Wireless Console 2
I already deleted a couple things, what else is not necessary, thanks

Its not a matter of what programs are installed, its a matter of what programs are running that will eat away at your memory and performance.
There is a really good guide posted in the guides section that probably says it better than I can.

Its based on XP so some things will be diffrent in vista but you get the idea, you want to eliminate all the process you dont need/use. Any services, make sure you keep your hdd defragmented, and you should be fine from there.
the G2S is a pretty strong machine it has 2gb of ram already wich is a big priority, and a strong cpu, just take care of it and it will take care of you. -
