    darn...

so... what is the advice of the community...

    buy a g2p now for around $1900....

or wait and get a g2s for $2100 or whatever the cost ends up...

Does anyone know how much longer of a wait till release?

depends on whether you like waiting or not =P. If you don't mind the wait the G2S is a bit better.

Is there an official release-date for the G2S? (If, so where?) I'm leaning toward this over the G1 (with external 20 inch monitor).

just wait for it, If the G2S has the dual CCFL backlights like i hope then it will be amazing and probably the best monitor in any 17" lap

The G2p is already one of the best, and with a higher res and dual backlights, it will be insanely nice.

I am sure the quality will be fine. I think it is a simple matter of time before other manufacturers get on the wagon with Dual lamp high resolution screens. The 20.1" HDX9000 Dragon from HP will be Dual lamp as well only with a 1680x1050 WSXGA resolution, down a little to appeal to a larger audience. I think it is the same maker as they have the 20.1" Dual lamp on their site as well, and the other 20.1" laptops are not Dual Lamp.

I plan to buy my G2s from Xotic PC, they can upgrade and offer a better guarantee! I am very excited!

sadly,ASUS had the G2s release date postponed.
strange, even the early G-brothers were released at the same time.
they probably don't want to have their G1s stuck in the warehouse as G2s is better than his older brother
