Definitely a weird version number. I know there is a B2, but not X3.

The X3 is a specific version made for BestBuy. In the deal, the price is a bit lower than the ASUS A1 (I think) but the warranty is only a year and if you want an extended warranty, you have to buy BestBuy's.

I looked at these models and chose the B2 because they came with 3 gigs RAM, 200 GB HDD, T7700, 2 years ASUS warranty with option for extended year for $129 as well as ASUS' one year accidental damage warrany. It was three hundred or so more but had a $100 rebate from ASUS and my dealer had a $40 off coupon.

There is an extensive description for installingn XP on the G1 and G2 models in this forum and it should apply to your new machine as well. If you can't find it in these forums, it is definitely in the ASUS forums that come with links to the XP drivers you will need. Check out http://support.asus.com and click on forums. Welcome to the world of the G2 machines.
