Hey guys i wanted to know when the Asus G3 comes?
Yeah the G1, G2 had rockt!!
but they wasnt the right for me, so i hope to find a better NB from ASUS
(maybe with nVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX) also
write back pls![]()

You and me both bud. I love the G1/G2 but it just didnt complete me as well. Now that I found out 45nm wont be happening until 2008, I hope Asus makes a G3 to fill in the gap between now and then. And I'm hoping it will have at least one modular bay, integrated wireless-N, and DX10 mobile.
-
Sorry, but G3 means that this laptop will have a different size factor (G1 = 15.4",G2 = 17") And my guess is a 14" display. So in the best possible case there will be an X2600 or 8600/8700 (they might also put DX9 GPU's e.g. : X1600,8600/8700)
EDIT : if you go and visit my GPU power consumption guide you'll find out that the heat generated by an 7950 will be 28WATTS more than X1600, so... -
The G3 was stated to be a 17" Desktop replacement notebook, and was to have a 7900GS. However, it was since delayed, probably for Santa Rosa and DX10.
-
I think it must be a 17" NB ,because the Graphikcard (7950 GTX SLi) is to warm
for other smaller NB. look at Alienware.com or Dell.com all NB with
2 Graphikcards (SLi) are 17" or bigger!! -
The G3 is supposed to be a 17" laptop.
The real question is whether Asus will put in a Go 8800GTX, or whether they'll continue to equip their G lineup badly (like the G2) and put in an 8600 instead. -
The G1 is pretty well spec'd out for what it is, and so is the G2 if you consider the budget restrictions they put the thing under. I'm sure Asus marketing has a market they are going after with these and they figure they can't sell as many if they use the high end video parts because that will also boost the price on these another few hundred dollars.
But by all means, if you can come up with a notebook configuration with a 8800GTX that handles the heat/size and comes in at the magic price point that Asus wants (expensive power user gaming notebooks are a niche market), somewhere under $2000.
So while you may think the current G series lineup is "badly" spec'd out I think you need to come back down to reality and either Pony up the real money for the uber gaming notebooks or realize that for X amount of dollars you get X amount of hardware. -
g3 is supposed to be a sli 17 inch notebook q3 2007
but the z84j is supposed to have 7950 gtx sometime soon. portable one is taking pre orders or advertising it. But I do believe you can get it from any of the asus retailers when it comes out. -
The thought of advertising a 17" G2 with an X1700 as a "gaming notebook" is just wrong. A well-equipped Dell E1705 will be twice as powerful on the graphics front, and that just smells funny, because the G2 has blinky lights and the E1705 (which you can get cheaper, with better features) doesn't.
You'd expect at least a 7900GS/7950GTX or an X1800/X1900. -
I almost went and bought a G1, except I found out that the e1705 just blows both the G1 and G2 away (at least graphics-wise)...also there's a lesser chance of the Dell being noticed and stolen.
-
Ok i think the G1 is better then the G2,or?
And the G3 must been better as a Alienware NB.
For 2000 $ was it cool.
So keep cool, lets see was happen in the futur!
I hope the G3 is "only" a 17" NB with 3GB RAM, 200 GB, and a nVIDIA 7800 GTX SLi ( and no ATI pls, because the not realy good) and MAYBE an INTEL CORE 3 TRIPLE processor
-
wtf are you talking about????? -
Nonsense.. The Asus G3 Package would just be the G2 + XG Station + 22inch Asus LCD...
-
obviously... i just wanted to know what this guy was smokin
