Can someone tell me the proper setting in the bios. I have two hard drives installed. One for the OS and the second for imaging and files. I am not interested in Raid. There is Enhanced and Compatible, but no description about the difference.

I believe enhanced will yield better performance (for reasons I can't explain). The only time I have ever used Compatible mode is when installing XP via a non-slipstream method.

I tried to set to enhanced and I keep getting BOSD. I tried it with XP and Vista.
I think I need it set to enhanced because when I image my drives in dos, for example with True Image, the speeds are ridiculously slow. If I set it to Raid I get BSOD also. I've been working with this computer for 4 days already.

The mode is best left to the one that works.

If you are doing a clean install then set it to Enhanced as this will yeild the best results without using RAID, if you need RAID then enable raid and follow a guide to set it up.

Once Vista or XP is installed in one of the modes it is very difficult to change the mode and get everything working again (as you are seeing).

Do it in Windows? True Image has been quite fast for me, in Windows.

And I agree with Qwakrz, if you want to change the mode of the HDD interface, your best bet is installing Windows from scratch with the new setting... but please note that the performance advantage from Compatible to Enhanced is not spectacular, some would say it's insignificant.

To RAID0 that's another matter, I think the computer is faster, but there are other drawbacks and tradeoffs (such as reliability).
