I've never considered buying myself a remote for my G50 until I realized it has infrared. I have no clue how this works.

Would something like that just work out of the box? How do you configure it?

Can you use a remote with VLC or MCE only? It'd be a shame to use MCE!

    Any enlightenment would be appreciated!

I can test this when I get home for you (about 9h from now) as I have a G71V with the infrared sensor and a MS remote for my HTPC but they have never been in the same room together.

My media center remote does not work my asus laptop when running media center so it looks like its a custom Asus code used.

FYI, on my HTPC I can use my MCE remote to operate Media player and PowerDVD so it is multi program aware. I think it uses the standard keyboard controls for pause play etc so will work any program that understands them.

Windows Media remotes seem to work on my C90s, hope that helps.

Thanks for the input guys. Looks like it's not worth testing it for $40.
