Yea, your only option right now is a T9600 @2.8GHz, but you void your warranty.

2.53ghz stock and it overclocks to a about 2.8ghz with the turbo mode seems plenty fast to me. There is a 3ghz extreme cpu too I think but it will cost wayyyy to much.

The question is, do you really think it's worth it to upgrade the CPU? It depends on what you're trying to do. The bottleneck may not be the CPU.

    Just my $0.02 worth

I don't think the G50V can handle the 45W max TDP of the X. I've wondered tho, has anyone done it? Originally I heard the TDP was supposed to be 35 but I don't think they stuck to that. Too rich for my blood in any event.

no, Asus doesn't offer upgrading services like that. Your best bet is to ask an Asus reseller to do the upgrading and see if they will provide a warranty from them instead.

It is entirely likely that you will see next to zero improvement from upgrading such a high-end CPU that you already have in the laptop. Coupled with the high cost of the upgrade and the loss of the warranty, there is just one possible conclusion. Not worth it.

I'm sure it could stand even a 50~55W processor. The temps are great for 35W really. With a good notebook cooler it could withstand possibly even 60W...
