Hi guys,
first of all excuse my English. I am from Germany so don't expect it to be perfect.
Well i want to install Windows XP AND Vista on my G50V (i've got the one with one single 320GB HDD) and i still have no problems to install windows XP but... how can i install Vista without wiping my Windows XP Installation?
The recovery Disk only offers my to install Vista over the first partition (what is the windows xp partition), installing it wiping of the whole disk and install it on one or two partitions.
So for my understanding it will wiping my Windows XP installation on any way.
Oh and for those who think One OS should be enough... well i want to use directx10 but i need to have windows xp for my University.

There should be an option to install to the first partition only and you have to install the other OS on the 2nd partition.

Leave Vista in the hard driver and install XP after and don't format the hard drive.
Here is the guide of how to dual boot XP/Vista with Vista installed first.
Also you'll need to download Vista recovery disk to repair Vista startup:

ok i'm getting a little confused now... i should install windows xp on a second/third partition? okay...
but how do i make a fresh installation of vista.. when i use the recovery cd from asus i get the whole crap that is installed when i boot it the first time, like norton etc...
i want a clean installation. -
You can do clean install of Vista using recovery disk, just recover Windows and when it ask to insert drivers CD don't do it, instead, just shut the computer off and restart, it'll boot to Windows desktop with nothing in there.

Hello everyone,
Yesterday I installed windows XP 32 bit with dual booting with vista 64 bit (because some of the old games won't run on the 64 bit Vista )
Initially, I got BSOD because XP cd didn't have SATA drivers. During this installation, I didn't slip stream the xp cd with the SATA drivers, instead I only changed the bios setting from enhanced to compatible. After installing XP (as per the guide mentioned above) I repaired the vista bootloader using EasyBCD and then tried to re - load vista, but it resulted into BSOD. All this while XP opens fine. Now after I again changed the bios setting to Enhanced Vista booted fine, but XP gave BSOD
Conclusion: now every time I have to switch between Vista and XP I need to change the Bios Setting for the SATA configuration (enhanced for Vista, compatible for XP) or else the respective OS reboots with a BSOD. I guess I need to install SATA drivers in XP and then probably I can use "enhanced" setting for both XP and Vista
1) Can anyone please let me know how I can install SATA Drivers on my installed XP partition ? I have downloaded the drivers, but don't know the process to install them.
2) Also it would be really great if someone let me know from where I can get the latest drivers for components in G50VT-X1 for windows XP. I've checked this link but I'm not sure if these are for G50VT as well, since the title says G50V.
Thanks,
Suyash
