I just bought this new notebook and after a few vista updates and immediately after installing Kaspersky, I got a "Microsoft Visual Basic C++" runtime error on my Direct Console 2.0, causing it to close. This is now a systematic error I get at every startup... Suggestions? I got it off startup in msconfig, but even if i start it manually it still gives me the same error, and sometimes it stays open. This is really weird, inconsistent. Anyone know how to solve this? I tried googling it but I keep finding other problems with Direct Console 2.0. Apparently it's up to date though, so nothing of that sort.![]()

Make sure you have all the latest drivers from asus. Here is the latest Direct Console driver

Are you running 64 bit windows? Is Kaspersky 32 or 64 bit? -
You can also download and reload the C++ redistro from MS...

I have updated direct console and still no dice... Kaspersky is on a 32 bit platform however... If it was Kaspersky, why would it be a "Microsoft Visual Basic C++" error though...? Also, what do you mean by redistro Bryanu?

Also that antivirus program sucks, i would drop it.AVG free is better than that lol
But I know direct console uses it even though whats odd is I dont think it installs it... I dont have it and it runs fine, but I remember that with another issue I had to put these on to fix an issue... So who knows. Other things use C++ anyway and its always good to have them on... They do have a 2008 ver but I dont know if it works backwords in the way this will want so I would use these...
