As you probably noticed, I am an Asus fan. I have been through alot of Asus laptops, buying and selling, and always trying to keep up to date and get the latest and fastest. I have purchased the Asus G50V-AK089C in the UK, awaiting delivery. Once I have played around with it, I will leave my personal comments.

Any UK users who are interested or have the same laptop, or are interested to buy it, please leave your comments, good and bad, in this thread, or if you have a question.

Looking forward to here from you guys!

Im interested in getting this laptop, it seems really good but i have a few questions.

    1) Whats is the screen resolution? I have heard its 1280 x 800 but im not sure

    2) Where did you purchase it from and how much did you pay ? I can only find one shop that does it.

    Thanks

    1) Screen resolution is 1680 x 1050.

    2) I purchased it from Asuslaptop.co.uk in total rounded off for £1000 including 24hour next day delivery.

Yes, I searched around as well for that specific laptop. No where else. I phoned Asuslaptop and spoke to Andrew. Very nice guy. He said that the G50V (with the blue vinyls on the lid) is exclusive and they are indeed the only ones selling them. Give him a call, and if you do purchase the laptop, he will drop in a free 4GB Pen Drive. I received one as well, a good freebie! :)

I am very happy with the G50V, gives a definite gamer impression with the blue vinyls on the lid.

    In short and sweet:

PRO: Very impressed with the graphics card performance.

CONS: Left shift is very small (but not such a big issue)

INTERESTING: My specific model laptop does NOT have a modem port nor Express Card slot. I have never used it before on my previous laptops, so Im not really bothered.

LOOKS: If I have to compare with my previous G1 laptop (which had aliminium rest pad), I would say the G50v looks a bit more plastic"y". But, it still looks great and very good built and feels like the G50 is lighter than the G1.

Still havent had time to go into more detail, when I get some time I will add more info to the thread :)

Yes it is a bit pricey (that's why they invented credit cards :twitchy: in my case), but for what you are getting, it's worth it. I needed it and I use it for graphics design, video editing and gaming and so far so good :GEEK:
