    I happened to come across a G50VT that had issues for free, it happened to come with the house she bought. I installed win 7 and was updating the BIOS when everything went terribly wrong. Upon the reboot, it would power on for 2 to 3 seconds and shut down. I have tried pushing the reset button multiple times, anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds. I have tried the power button trick, pushing it for 10 to 45 seconds multiple times and still reboots. I have read somewhere on the net that it could be the GPU due to the black screen. The kid that had this computer made a complete mess of it, and it looks like the GPU could have overheated by the dust that was in the fan area. Any input would be great, and does it appear that am on the right track? I figured it could be two things;

    1. Motherboard
    2. GPU (69N0BBV10B01-01)

    Please HELP!

    Doesn't looks like it's the GPU issue, more like corrupted BIOS flash and have seen this quite a few times.

    I'd have to agree with Gentech. There's a possibility it's coincidentally a hardware failure, but judging by the timeline, it seems to be the BIOS flash. Seems like it's failing a test near the beginning of POST.

    I have never had a bad BIOs flash before, I pulled the two wire plug leading to the cmos battery, unless there some other trick I am missing, The screen is black, nothing shows up at all.

    Me neither but it does happens. If it was a corrupted BIOS flash then there is nothing you can do except replace the mainboard.

    Just to update the lads that gave excellent advice, it turns out it was the motherboard. I ordered one from eBay, for about $100.00 dollars delivered, installed which was a b*tch. It booted up and works great! Thanks again to all that helped!
