Hello. I am planning on purchasing the G50VT-A1 or the A2, however before i take the plunge. Does anyone know when the model or series is expected to receive an update? I don't want to buy it now and see a new one arrive in like a month... Just wondering!
Wow i saw my post and realize i haven't updated my sig in a long time...

well never know just get it because if you wait there will be another version coming out then you'll wait for that then another version will be on the horizon..
moral of the story never wait for technology -
I understand that much but... but i would rather see an update like at least 5-8 months after i buy. Maybe i am hoping for too much?

I don't anticipate Asus releasing anything new until nVidia or Intel release newer/faster products.
The difference between the A1 and A2 is the hard drive size and the addition of blu-ray.
G50VT-A1
500GB 7200RPM (2x250GB)
Combo DVD/RW Drive
G50VT-A2
640GB 7200RPM (2x320GB)
Blu-ray Reader/DVDRW Combo Drive -
Yeah! I am aware of the differences of the two... I don't need or really care about having blue ray but the extra 140g would be nice, i am not convinced its worth the extra cost.
And the more i look at them the more i want the larger 17" model... I hate spending money lol i become so indecisive! -
I recently settled for the VT-x5 BB special, I dont really need Blu-ray or any of that crap, for under a k I got a pretty killer setup and a machine that will last at least a year and a half unless theres some major leap in GPU design. Any of the A class is more powerful than mine so you should be good. If anything maybe replace the CPU in a year, you already saved a couple hundred bucks, so consider it.

Not all G50 are 15.6".
Mine for example is 15.4...
Only the lower res monitor ones like BB sells seems to be 15.6...
The cases are all the size of a 17" notebook though... So the G50 physically is the size of a normal 17" notebook...
Thats the ONLY thing i HATE about this notebook... They should have just gave ust he bigger monitor, as the case is already that size. -
The G50VT should last you for a long time yet. I don't expect Asus to bring out a new laptop for a while seeing as the G50Vt is faily new technology.
As Justin said, when Nvidia release new 3D cards then you can expect a new Asus laptop with newer cards and faster CPU. -
Get the G50VT. a friend has it and loves it.
